How to approach B-school essays/SOP?
Short answer: They should be like hashtag#SSRajamouli movies’ trailer leaving the admissions committee craving for more

ESSAY TIPS
0. Understand the Question asked and its purpose
1. Narrate a genuine story from your professional journey (avoid personal stories as much as possible)
2. Set up the context with an introduction paragraph not too long
3. Detailed body and precise conclusion
4. Avoid fundamental mistakes such as spelling and grammar
5. Write in an active voice and in 1st person (trust me I have seen people who refer themselves in 3rd person)
6. Keep in mind the word limit but provide details
7. Essays give a peek into your profile, and use that to set up the interview panel
8. Send a message about what you will bring to the Institute/cohort
9. Avoid run-on sentences, keep them concise, and convey the story clearly
10. Insinuate the reasons/qualities "why they should offer you a seat?"
11. Do not project subjective and cliched qualities. Have unique stories

My job KRAs includes works like heading credit department in a large branch with a team of about 4-5 employees. Supervising works like processing loans, sanctioning, completion of pre disbursement formalities, disbursement and monitoring of the branch loan portfolio.
Have worked as branch manager of a medium size branch with staff strength of 10 for 1.5 yrs.

I am planning to apply in R2 for IIM A B C and ISB

I’d advise to keep 7 days for filling the admission form, writing the SOP and every other stuff, including a competitive GMAT Score. It’s good that you are taking the GMAT in October. If need be, you’ll have enough time to re-take the test. Round 3 closing dates are 3 December, 2 December and 26 November for IIM A,B and C, respectively. Have your competitive GMAT score ready by 16 November. Also, each IIM has a different process of admission. For example, IIM B requires a SOP with the application form itself whereas IIM A asks to write an essay or two only to the shortlisted candidates.
