One is reality. One is speculation with ideal assumptions. How many of us would have rationally predicted 3 lakhs+ cases per day at this time of the year? Rationally speaking, do you think odds are in favour of the on campus classes this year?
They have a 4 month time with them, and the experience of handling a bio bubble. They will for sure.

gagan0303, 1 rational here.. you think college can refuse referral saying don’t worry everything will be under control in 4 months we are sure about that? Corona uncertainty ( not talking about jobs placement etc) is still a valid reason as people are literally dying in thousands

dude just get vaccinated when its available. I am right now being a front line worker and regularly going out. It is not effecting, the data is showing it. And data matter when decisions are being taken.

Be optimistic, that is all i am saying rn.

i am waitlisted as well.

Apparently, ISB won’t find fact a valid reason but assume their ideal prediction will stand valid.

All I want to say is admitted guys please defer, I am waitlisted. Haha. But on a serious note, defer seems a good option, IMO.

True. It was a long long process. Even I don’t get selected, there is a takeaway - how not to manage the admissions process. Lol.

Are we still on planet earth? Or have we lost contact with the reality? So, the logic is when corona was 20k cases per day (Last April), defer seemed a valid reason by ISB, but when corona is spreading at 3.1 lakhs cases per day, ISB won’t consider corona a good reason to defer.
last year people had no idea about capability of covid , this year everyone knows what it can do what it cannot do , just close news channels and think logically , in a country of 1.4 billion people 300k cases are negligible number besides that most people faces no problem even after getting covid. so deferrals will definitely be less this year than last. It is human nature to fear uncertainty more than known danger.

That’s not the case this time it’s spreading fast and not giving enough time to treat ... I am saying based on cases among my dear ones

Let’s talk sense. One of my relatives is admitted in Ganga Ram Hospital. He is struggling. to breathe. 15+ people who were admitted in that hospital died because of unavailability of oxygen in last 24 hours. The point isn’t what percentage of population is getting effected per day, but how many resources do we have to treat the number of people who are getting effected per day. That’s a rational approach, IMO - Number of people effected vs resources available per day. Moreover, as per human nature, you avoid a certain danger. The more certain you’re of the capability of the danger, the more likely you’re going to avoid it. And yes business think logically - usually whatever optimises their results and profits, not what is good for the employees or people in general.

And as per the news argument, I totally agree. Following news is important, but not getting carried away by the hype is equally important. There is a resource crunch to treat present levels of corona patients in India. I don’t think you can deny that. Can you?

This is a pandemic. People are dying. This isn’t a balance sheet where you can justify numbers saying it’s a negligible number vis-a-vis the population. These are lives that we are talking about and nothing is negligible. Everyone here is striving to be future leaders but one thing that B school won’t teach us but what we have to learn is empathy. And if a global pandemic can’t teach us that then don’t know what will.

Reason/debate about deferrals but saying that Covid isn’t affecting lives is wrong on a completely different level.

Getting into B school isn’t a life or death matter so let’s stop making it about that but Covid is so let’s start looking at in that light and being more understanding and empathetic with the world.
