Hello,
Answering your questions as below.

1. Will my Govt R&D job affect my application severely? As i don't have any experience in private/corporate industry?
No. It is a plus as a diverse work experience. But your professional agility will be important.

2. How will my extra curriculars and hobbies fare against rest of the applicants?
At par. Ok.

3. Are there any certifications which i can opt for to improve my application?
Choose any skill upgrade (certifications) as per your career goals.

4. Should i target GMAT in August or in October? I think if i take more time, my score can go past 700-720s. If i appear for GMAT in August (for R1), i think my score might fall below 700.
Try to have a competitive score. Submitting in R1 with a low GMAT score versus with a stronger GMAT score in R2, will go with the latter.

5. How much time to be devoted for application filling and how do i approach it, i am totally new to this thing and don't have any prior knowledge about the same.
Upto you. A strong application usually takes around 30 - 45 days. Application filling might just take 5-7 days.

6. I can't tell at my organization for LOR so i will be sourcing it from a senior (close friend of mine) working in the same organization. Will ISB interviewers take it in negative sense?
You are at liberty to choose your recommender. It is recommended that you take your recommendations from your supervisor, which is not always practically possible. What your recommender has to say about you and how well he/she knows your professional acumen is what matters.

All the best!

Thanks for your wise words.
1. Please tell me range of target score in GMAT with my profile as mentioned earlier?

2. Kindly elaborate your reply to query no. 5 regarding application filling and 30-45 days in strong application. Why so much time is required for essay writing and all? Are there any other elements to application that i am missing right now?

Thanks.

A target score could be close to the school average - 700/710/720 or higher.

2. Kindly elaborate your reply to query no. 5 regarding application filling and 30-45 days in strong application. Why so much time is required for essay writing and all? Are there any other elements to application that i am missing right now?

If you have researched and thought out your goals and expectations from the programs, along with your stories that you want to highlight, the essays should not take you long. If not, then managing all of this along with work commitments does take time. Its not mandatory for everyone to spend that much though. This is from past observations.

Thanks.

hello, what would be the disadvantages i face by applying in R2 instead of R1?

AG2907 - The best round to apply is when you are ready with a strong application i.e. GMAT, compelling essays, LoRs, etc. It is better to have a strong application in R2 than a weak one in R1. Having said that, applying in R2 would potentially have the following disadvantages compared to R1:

R1 typically tends to have more seats available for enrollment than R2. Furthermore, R2 attracts a larger applicant pool than R1, making the competition more intense. Applying in R1 showcases your commitment and preparedness, indicating a strong interest in the program, which (other things being equal) adds more weightage to the application. Applying in R1 also gives you enough time to plan your transition.

Hey guys! Have a follow up doubt. So say if I write the regular GMAT this year. Will it still be recognised and given same weightage if I use the score for 2025/2026 admissions???
