Hey Vashisht
I’ll be applying for ISB first time this year. I currently have work ex of ~3 yrs primarily as an APM at a startup. Since the application is due on 10th Sept. How can I plan my GMAT and do you have any suggestions in terms of the prep plan I can follow. Any resources for concept videos etc. that I can use? PS: I’m self preparing.

I was involved in my local community during COVID. We helped setup medical checkup, spread awareness on e-sanjeevani etc.

Hello Vashisht
I am planning to apply to ISb this year. I will have a 24 months of work ex in August. I am working as a Head of Human Resource right now. I have worked in 3 startups from the time i graduated from college. Does it matter whether the work I have mostly done is with startups and not some MNC per se. Will it create a problem in my overall evaluation?
Thanks!!

Well I applied through the GRE route. So I might not be the best person to respond to you on GMAT prep. However, I would recommend you boost your score as much as possible before applying to the program. The evaluation is no doubt holistic. However, a high score gives you a degree of comfort and it automatically gives you confidence in the interview. I felt like I did not have the best interview at ISB, however I feel my above average work ex helped me sail through

With this as the context, I would not be overly bothered about R1 and R2. If you can get your target score by R1, nothing like it. Else, it would not hurt to apply in R2

I am a software dev with 6 years of experience. I dont think the role is that important tbh. ISB would like to see how you contributed in your role and how you think you can use your experience. to help your cohort. For example, skills like SQL and Python are useful for people wanting to pivot into Product management. Can you do something to help your cohort by organising sessions? I’d recommend you think along those lines

Awesome. Then I hope that there is no discrimination in the R1 vs R2 selection process except that R1 ppl would have access to scholarships etc. sooner than the R2 applicant. When can we expect the R2 application deadline?
Also, are you an R1 or R2 applicant?

I dont believe there is a discrimination between the 2 rounds. R1 people might have better access to scholarships (I’m an admit and not a part of the admissions team, so dont quote me on that). The benefits of R1 is that you get to network with your peers for a longer period of time. I was meeting fellow ISB admits almost once a week from November 2022. We were able to form great friendships before the school started.

However, selection wise you should be at no disadvantage. Apply when you feel your application is strongest. The round you apply in would not play a major role in getting you a reject.

Unfortunately, I would not be able to comment on chances without understanding the whole profile in detail. Maybe reach out to some of the consultants active on this page for their initial assessment? That being said, a good score would only help your chances
