AK24 Stellar profile
I, too, come from the automotive auxiliary industry in product and process design (pre-MBA) and hope I can provide meaningful advice.
Your leadership skills and "growth progression" will be most interesting to the schools. Since you are relatively more experienced, the schools will want to know more about your professional and personal development over the past 6 years.
I assume you have solid development to production launch experience in developing product/material concepts, creating design specifications, testing prototypes, troubleshooting procurement and process issues, and working with teams at all levels for a successful launch. If you are interested in consulting, you can leverage your passion for your current role/industry and express a desire to expand operations strategy for clients in a top management consulting firm or a strategic role in an industry-focused company. If you are interested in moving into e com or startups in senior positions, you would be a great fit for roles in supply chain analytics, product design, supply chain network design, and planning. MBA essays are all about passion; they are about how ready you are to change some problem in the world or to seize an opportunity. To address this point well, your passion has to reflect through your goals narrative.
Showcase your strong leadership skills through stories where you helped resolve conflicts, expedited projects that were trusted with more significant responsibilities over and over again, motivated team members or external stakeholders to keep projects on time, influenced senior management with your insights to take a particular stand on decisions, and saved resources for the company.
I can already see great potential for going deeper into the themes of supplier management and cost optimization.
Feel free to connect should need professional advice for applications or interviews. Aanchal Sahni (INSEAD alum, ex INSEAD MBA admissions interviewer)
