Hi everyone! For people that did not take the help of admissions consultants for your applications and are now in ISB, ISB alum or selected in R1 this year - how did you go about writing and reviewing your essays and applications? I am trying to reach out to ISB alums but have not been THAT successful. Would appreciate the help!
Hey @lionhearted123 , we got some experience pointers shared by one of our applicant who got an admission offer from ISB recently.
1. ISB was my second school in my application process - so i was already clear on my stories and key highlights I want to hit- so be sure your ingredients for essays are in place.
2. i personally don’t like taking feedbacks from multiple sources as these are very subjective and can confuse you, especially when you don’t have luxury of time. So I iterated multiple times with my consultant and got one opinion from another
mba and beyond consultant. This approach worked for me but I personally also did research on my own through forums, webinars, website etc etc
3. try to figure out what the school stands for through webinars and info-sessions+ their expectations from those questions. Also read each word of the essay question as ISB essay questions club a couple of themes- so try to hit the right notes with the questions asked
4. i had an option to reach out to my undergrad seniors/batchamates (but I didn’t)- so instead of randomly cold dming people- find an ‘in’ with an ISB alum e.g. same undergrad college and reach out!
I hope this helps! Good luck.
