Hey
Requesting a Profile Evaluation -
A bit about me:
- 7+ years in strategy and operations, with the last 5 years at high-growth startups in edtech and wellness tech. (6 years post college, 1 year in college)
- Led teams through both 0→1 and 1→100 phases, from building MVPs to scaling operations for 50,000+ users annually
- Founded an event company at 23, ran large scale events, securing partnerships and generating INR 50 Lakhs in revenue
- Founded a creative venture in college
- Dy. Head Girl in School
- Ran couple of large scale relief campaigns during Chennai Floods and Covid
- B.Arch in education, moved to non profit and then startups. Haven't practised architecture.
Post MBA, I'm looking to move into consulting or VC/PE. Long term goal is entrepreneurship.
GMAT - Not taken yet, in the process.
Also, thinking of taking a career break because of some major issues at work and focusing on GMAT prep. Might do some part time consulting at startups during this time. Not sure how it’ll be perceived.
Hope this finds you well.
It isn't going to simple breaking into VC/PE after ISB (if not impossible); the leadership experience, entrepreneurial mindset, and start-up exposure are bound to give you some strong talking points; of course, how well you bring together your achievements into a coherent narrative is going to have an impact on your chances.
We would suggest you avoid a career break; such breaks (especially, when they coincide with GMAT prep) are not perceived in a positive light and will unnecessary complicate things for you. You must also avoid entrepreneurship as a long term goal unless you have a specific idea about what you wish to do.
