The interviewer has not seen anything except for your resume (so it's blind), but the AdCom looked at all your materials before sending an invite.

Finished my interview yesterday! :)

Really friendly interview. It was more of a conversation than and a drill down (but since I had a startup - he did go a little more into the idea, and my plans).

Most of the questions were similar to the ones mentioned. Thanks again guys for sharing it. Paying it forward, I noted two questions which kind of flummoxed me, and weren't noted earlier.

1. What is the leadership learning gained since 2011. What have you learnt since then.
2. What courses (electives) are you going to take up to help you reach your goal- I knew this answer very well a month back, but at that moment I forgot specific courses. So I gave slightly vague topics than actual courses.

Otherwise the interview was great. He allocated 30 minutes for his queries (it actually went up to 37) and 15 for any queries I had.

Thanks again for those who took the time to provide input earlier. The only input I can share is be unique, and don't be afraid to have a personality (especially to Indians :-p).

Best of luck to all of us going forward!

Thanks, my friend. Preparing for the Interview on Sunday. May the odds be ever in your favor.

Anyone know if after an alumni interview we should receive any sort of notification that the interview results have been submitted or we should just expect radio silence until decision date?

Had my interview yesterday via skype with a 2nd-year student.

As others have said, it was a relatively informal conversation.

In addition to the standard questions (tell me about yourself/your work experience, why MBA, why McCombs), I was also asked if I had a plan B as far as my career plan, so I'd be ready to answer to that, especially if you're a career-changer like me.

I would definitely recommend preparing for the "tell me about a time when....." questions. I was asked to talk about a time when I worked in a team, as well as a challenge or critique that I've faced.

Overall, the interview lasted for just under an hour. Best of luck to everyone.

I have the same exact question as you do. My interviewer actually grilled me a bit on technicalities: "Who's the president of xxx club" and "why do you think oil prices are reacting the way they are" etc.

I think we do not receive any notification about interview completed.
The 2nd years who interview are part of the McCombs Ad Com.
Since you don't get any similar notification if you interview with Ad Com staff , you should not expect for the student interviews too.

I was asking about off-campus alumni interviews in particular, but if there's no notification after Skype interviews maybe I should not expect a notification after an alumni interview either. Thanks for the input.

yup, I had an off campus interview as well. Their website indicates that even though the "interview notifications" go out on a rolling basis, we'd have to wait till the decision date to get the final verdict. Welp, we made it thus far. Good luck to all of us and hope to raise a toast to McCombs soon!

Wow that's a bit unexpected. I haven't had any interviews go like that (including McCombs). Mine were mostly typical leadership questions, tell me about a time you received criticism, etc.

FROM Mccombs(Texas Austin) Admissions Blog: International Student Spotlight: The Road to McCombs
Texas MBAs come from all over the world. This week we’re highlighting some of our international students who made the long trip to McCombs. Check out what they have to say about Austin, McCombs, and the advice they’d like to share with future international applicants.

Name: Faraha

City of Origin: Bangalore, India

Why did you choose the Texas MBA program? I wanted a school that was into social impact and also has a strong entrepreneurship program. I also had the fortune of visiting the school before applying and I loved the reception I received. It was a fit right away! And Austin has a great music scene, which is a bonus!

Any advice for others from India thinking about attending McCombs? McCombs has a lot of hidden gems which I discovered after I joined the program. I would advise speaking to as many students and alums as you can to understand how McCombs can help you achieve your goals.

Name:
Shin

City of Origin: Seoul, South Korea

Why did you choose the Texas MBA program? I knew alumni from McCombs and they recommended I apply because it is an amazing school. The community is friendly, diverse and very open to new-comers.

Any advice for others from South Korea thinking about attending McCombs? McCombs has so many hands-on opportunities, like MBA+, which will prepare you for any business environment in your future. Austin also has great weather and super friendly people!

Name:
Martin

City of Origin: Monterrey, Mexico

Why did you choose the Texas MBA program? Texas MBA is a top MBA program that sets itself apart from other business schools. McCombs has a unique, friendly culture which helps anyone make the best of their program. A “pay it forward” attitude prevails in every McCombs student and alum. With the help of these networks, any goal seems feasible, and with Austin, a friendly, awesome city, included in the decision-making process, the choice becomes a no-brainer!

Any advice for others from Mexico thinking about attending McCombs? Come to Austin to meet the McCombs community! You will learn about the program, meet the admissions team, get to know current students and their experiences, and get advice on the future steps you need to take with your application (Take advantage of this opportunity, students want to help!) You will soon realize that the Texas MBA is the program you are looking for.

Name:
Xiaoping

City of Origin: Shanghai, China

Why did you choose the Texas MBA program? First, McCombs offers a customizable schedule that can be tailored to my personal goals. I can dive deep into the Corporate Finance Concentration and the MBA+ Program, to convert learning into action. Second, I appreciate the culture, diversity and collaborative community of McCombs and UT. My cohorts at McCombs are community leaders with diversified backgrounds. Learning from their valuable thoughts and experiences can inspire me to think more deeply about my career goals, life philosophy, and my contributions to society.

Any advice for others from China thinking about attending McCombs? I did a lot of research to choose McCombs, and after arriving here, things are far beyond my expectations! I really enjoy the down-to-earth culture. Most Chinese applicants do not know much about Austin and Texas. Texas’s current economic situation is the best among all the states in the US. More and more companies, especially the high-tech companies, are moving into Texas for this reason. Austin is a fast-growing city and the people here are nice and warm and you can enjoy the city life as well as the great natural scenes.

Name: Arjun

City of Origin: Dehradun, India

Why did you choose the Texas MBA program? I was looking for an MBA Program which would allow me to leverage my background in energy as well as provide world class education and professional opportunities. McCombs was therefore my top choice!

Any advice for others from India thinking about attending McCombs? Spend a lot of time reflecting on your experiences, professional, academic and generally in life. Find a theme in your experiences and tie them to your story. It’s YOUR story, no one can tell it better than you, and McCombs is a great place to do that.

Had my interview last Friday with local Alum. Pretty informal and conversational. She went off of the standard set of questions from the packet/instructions they were sent (all previously posted). Being my first admissions interview i definitely tripped over a words a few times and rambled a bit but the informal nature helped ease me.

Good luck to everyone already interviewed and waiting, those that have yet to interview, and those that will interview in later rounds!

Posted from GMAT ToolKit

From past threads it looks like they start rolling a couple days before the deadline... so maybe the 14-15th of December at the earliest.
