Received a regret mail for Laidlaw. So they will possibly send out rejections and acceptances soon.

Hey,

Any admits applied for the Skoll Scholarship? I’m trying to understand what you’re doing to prepare for it.

Ive been having difficulty gauging whether my score is strong enough, as the average is 680 but most of the applicants ive seen on this group chat have the low 700s for GMAT classic

Helllo, GMAT scores depend mainly on your profile and demographics:

 - If you come from an urrepresented background, you can have success with a GMAT lower than average
 - If you come from an average represented background (e.g. US or EU), you should aim to be around the average
 - If you come from an over-represented background (e.g. China, India), you should aim to be well above average since competition will be more fierce

Given these consideration and considering that applications for the 2024 intake for Said are now closed, if you're targeting Oxford I would focus on improving my GMAT score right now.

Hope this helps

Hi Max, I am a recent admit. If you are targeting for the next year and feel like you need anything, let me know. I am happy to help.

Based on your profile, Kudron gave the best advice. Ultimately think from the college perspective. Being in an overrepresented pool. you’d need to outshine to make your candidacy attractive (It can be either GMAT score, experience, extra curricular, etc). More than the size of budget, focus on your learnings and impact that you made while doing these projects. (Think of it in this way: Will you be able to add any special value to the class? Are you interesting enough? Do you have the right intention and are equipped with the tool kit to make your short term goal a success?)

Also be sincere about your motivation to do an MBA. At the end of the day, whatever you convey should point to one specific direction.

Thanks for your replies. I’m Canadian with EU citizenship via Poland. D0ta_007, I attempted to DM you, but I couldn’t due to restrictions. Could you DM me instead? I’ve condensed my key application points. As a recent admit, you likely grasp the school culture and Adcom’s preferences better.
