I was invited from Boston yesterday even though other Boston invites were sent out 2 weeks ago with the first batch. While it's definitely location-based, clearly there are no hard and fast rules.

FROM Sloan Admissions Blog: Tips for the MIT Sloan MBA Interview

Messages our students wrote in the interview lunch room for applicants interviewing on campus

Now that interviews for Round One are underway, I have a few final tips for our applicants. As we shared in the powerpoint in this post, this year we are asking interview invitees to submit a short essay before their interview takes place. The essay asks about how your past aligns with our mission statement, and is a great place to highlight your experiences and strengths.

During the interview, be prepared to talk about any updates you might have since you pressed submit on your application. A current student, Valerie Russell MBA’16, offers this advice: “As you go through the application process, my greatest advice is to be yourself. Take the questions, think about them, and tell your story. I know that you’ll hear this a lot, but I just find that to be so true. I reflected on my life and where I wanted to go.”

I'd take that number with a grain of salt. Based on a target class size of ~400, 3 rounds split evenly, and a yield of 70% (read that somewhere), they need to invite ~190 candidates per round and GMAT club currently has 39. Obviously not everyone partakes, but we're a little more than half way through the window (20 Oct - 13 Nov), still plenty of invites left IMHO (In My Hopeful Opinion :wink: )

Hey man,
I received an email from MIT that my interview is in Delhi. I think the other location should be Mumbai, although I am not sure. I just checked my application page and it is unchanged i.e. doesnt reflect the interview call yet.
At the time of registering myself for the interview, all the slots in Delhi for both the days were empty.
Also I submitted my application in RD 1, on the last day itself. And yes I submitted an essay for the optional essay :)

Thanks a ton.
I just received the application, about 2 hours ago. Thought of updating it here, since I would have expected the same.
All the slots were empty when I was registering so i think a lot of calls are in store.

I have a background in chem engg from IIT and have been working overseas in the oil and gas sector for the past three years.
MIT is my dream school so I am really excited about it too!

All the best to you to too. i think a hoard of invits are on their way. keep checking the promotion tab of your gmail because thats where I receive all my emails from MIT .

When you say ton of slots are open, Do you mean they are open in Delhi/Mumbai or are are they open in other countries as well? Can you see that information?
