Hi guys, as an african american individual currently working in real estate finance, i'm studying for the GMAT with hopes of pursuing a school like Stanford in the next 3-4 years. I have a lot of entrepreneurial passion and B-school would be incredible to be surrounded by other talented folks.
That said, I'm currently hovering around 600 if I were to take the GMAT right now. I'm going to take the test in late May, but likely will push it out to late June or July to study further. I'm trying to get above 700, but I'm not hopeful I'll get above 720 or 730.
I know the stats for AA's suggest there are not many who score above 700 (like 2%). That said, if I was able to get to 700 and had a solid background (3.4GPA at a top 25 uni in US), how competitive would I be? Would I be competitive for any potential scholarships as well?
On another note, I really like the prospect of Stanford because I love technology (in addition to commercial real estate). I want to get closer to technology, however I know a school like Wharton/USC/Harvard would be better for a real estate-focused MBA/MRED. What do you guys think? I would like to have the optionality of being surrounded by technology but by having a real estate background, it's an area I work within long term in my career. The best of both world situation would be one where I'm exposed to technology that impacts the real estate industry.
Thanks
