UCLA Essay Questions



  • a) Short Answer Questions: Tell us about your MBA goals AND why you are applying to UCLA Anderson now:
    • Describe your short term and long term goals (150 words maximum)
    • Why is UCLA Anderson a good school for you? (150 words maximum)
  • b) At Anderson, we believe our students are engaged, courageous, humble, and open. Describe a time when you demonstrated one of these traits in your personal life. (250 words maximum)
  • c) Optional: Are there any extenuating circumstances in your profile about which the Admissions committee should be aware. (250 words maximum)

For Reapplicants (applicants who applied in the previous two application years.)
  • a) Please describe your career progress since you last applied and how you have enhanced your candidacy. Include information on short-term and long-term career goals, as well as your continued interest in UCLA Anderson. (500 words maximum)
  • b) Optional: Are there any extenuating circumstances in your profile about which the Admissions Committee should be aware? Please use your best judgment. (250 words maximum)

When is the MBA application due? It says October 2nd but there is no time given like the other schools have. Would it be at midnight in PST (the time zone of the school)?

Good question! I just checked previous forum discussions and according to this forum post, 11:50 PST is the latest you can submit the app. Having said that, as that forum post is old and there is no official word from the admission team about app timing, you shouldn't be waiting until the last minute to submit your app.

Hi throwaway132132,

According to UCLA Anderson's FAQ, a complete application must be submitted by 11:59 PST on the date of the deadline to be considered for admission.

Judging from last few years it seems like by mid October they start reaching out for interviews and it extends all the way to December.

I received an email today inviting me to interview at the Womenanderson weekend only if I'm able to commit to both days of the event. Otherwise, it says "we will contact you about interviewing through the regular process at a later time."

Not sure if that means I was selected to interview regardless of whether I attend the event but it reads that way. Anyway, figured I would share as a data point. Good luck to all!

Congratulations! Definitely looks like an interview invite, just the matter of scheduling it.

Good to know that invites have started rolling out, let's hope they get to the regular process soon!

Historically it has been on a rolling basis starting around now. I have seen on clearadmit that there have been a couple interviews out already, but not sure if these are all related to the women's weekend event.

I'm still waiting on mine at this point in time (quite skeptical about Anderson with my GPA, but fingers crossed!)

I applaud this attitude. I think too often people get stuck on one school and then spiral into some kind of depression if they don't get into that one school, when they just have no control over who else is applying and honestly its the luck of the draw sometimes. Best to approach this as an overall campaign rather than a romantic relationship.
