Hello! I am a Silver Scholar applicant and have my interview scheduled for Yale SOM today (6 hours to go!)
Can anyone who might be aware tell me how many Silver Scholars are there in general, and what is the acceptance rate if you get an interview invite?
My current assumption is if one assumes 400 applicants and a 5% acceptance rate, there are 20 Silver Scholars. From 20 of those, we could potentially equally divide them amongst in R1 and R2. Which would mean there are around 10 acceptances each round. And with around 5 time slots across 4 days, I can assume that there would be around a 30-40% chance to get accepted taking account of the error, R3 acceptances, and other erroneous factors.
With a standardized interview format for Yale SOM, how do they differentiate between 2 candidates finally? Also, how is the amount of scholarship to be given to an applicant decided?
Congrats! From what I heard during one of the workshops, they said all Silver Scholar applicants get interviewed. As for scholarship it ranges from $20k to full tuition depending on merit from what they said. As for the the rest of your questions, I'm not sure but I do know there is typically 15-20 Silver Scholars but Yale has no cap on how many or how little they choose to accept. It depends on the entire application pool and if they want a silver scholar vs a normal applicant.
