1. I am an alum of Yale SOM. In my capacity of an Admissions Consultant, I regularly work not only with candidates who went to the Top 20 US schools, but also many others across Canada, Europe and Asia. I have thus really known students and their admits across various schools.
Additionally, while I was a student at Yale SOM, I took-on opportunities to work not only with SOM students, but also with students from other schools in Engineering. Neither were my undergrad (and my employer) ranked at all, nor were those of some of the others students I worked with.
2. Further, as an Admissions Consultant, I have sent many students across many MBA schools, and having seen the cases of and heard from numerous admits, I know nothing could be farther from the truth.
Yale actually provides FREE MONEY if you join non-profits after MBA (Yes, they pay your education loans). That brings a lot of non-elitist school students to Yale.
My one big advice to you all. Don't BELIEVE things that you hear from people who are not qualified appropriately to make such statements.

I am not sure if it is true, but I heard from my colleagues that Yale SOM is one of the most "elitist" schools. I heard that, for example, they place an absurd amount of emphasis on the prestige of your undergrad institution (more so than other top 10 b-schools). Is this true??
