If you look back at the past few years in the decision tracker it looks like there are usually 50-63 people invited to interview in Round 1. There are only 15 in the decision tracker right now. There are also fewer applications registered in Round 1 this year than in past years. Going by past years' Round 1 stats, I would think there would be 20-30 more invites going out to this group before the end of Round 1.
People update that throughout the year. WE can't compare now vs last year, we have to compare now vs this time last year. No good way to effectively do that on GMATClub, but you can on clear admit.

My read on the situation is they may be interviewing more people than usual this year, but we really don't have enough data to say for sure one way or another.

If there a way for me to know in advance who is going to interview me? I have one scheduled for the 30th.

If you mean the dings after an interview, they will do that only on the decision day which is December 8th

No I mean the dings for those who dont receive an interview. Im assuming if no invite has been received so far for most it is as good as a ding.

Safe to assume (realistically) it’s over if you haven’t gotten the invite? Do they just send dings out all at once? What do y’all think?

I haven’t gotten an interview and I agree, I’m of the school of thought we’ll all get dings on the deadline. Possible they’re saving a special few backups but for the most part I would say no now.

In years past, Yale has released a portion of the applicant pool in late October/early November, so those of us who haven’t received interviews could get dinged in the near future. Not sure how this year will play out though.

However, Yale also sends out a second wave of dings on decision day, so making it past the initial release isn’t always a good sign either.

I’ve emotionally moved on from Yale, it’s not all about the rankings. It’s about a professional fit. And if they don’t see us as a fit, it’s a good message to focus on the schools that do.

Hi,

Can you please advise me on the GRE score. My score is unfortunately sub300 :(
I have studied so hard and reset the test so many times over 5 times and I don’t see improvement in my score :(
I have a really strong application (unique story and GPA 3.9) except for my GRE score
Can you please advise me on what to do? I don’t want to lose my opportunity to join Yale (my dream school) just because of a score that doesn’t represent my capabilities. I applied last year and got to the shortlist.

I have bought almost every study guide. I have tried online courses and one on one classes - it didn’t work yet!!!!

Please advise me on what to do

Hi. Your story moved me. Now, I haven't got my Yale invite either, but let me try to help. As someone who has given both GRE and GMAT I believe there are some fundamental differences between the tests and you may be better suited to one compared to another. Maybe you can try GMAT instead? I just checked some V&Q variations of GRE 300 score on google and found that it converts to 480-510 range. Considering you are a strong candidate, I believe the more logical approach of GMAT might be better for you(worth a shot at least). Also, from a personal perspective I believe scoring 600+ in GMAT could comparatively be easier than low 300 scores at GRE while also being more valued than 300 GRE(if the conversion charts are accurate). I know things are different for everyone, and no single advice applies to all but I think after giving the test 5 times you might have been facing a mental barrier crossing 300 with GRE, and maybe trying GMAT would give you a clean slate for the fresh start you need. I wish you all the best.

Many thanks for your kind reply and especially for your compassion. I am hesitant to take the GMAT because in GMAT if I skip a question then it is gone and I cannot go back to solve it later. I am also very hesitant to set a GMAT because I wont be able to use a calculator .... :( I am so afraid that that would severely affect my score.

Hello everyone. I would appreciate your advice. The company I work for is going through a major restructuring. If i want to resign, then now (before year end) is the right time. I am taking a risk for resigning now before hearing back from ADCOM. However I am truly ready to move on (to purse an MBA or start a new job). Bear in mind there are over 5 months between now and the start of the semester. I am wondering if that would be perceived negatively by the ADCOM . What shall I do?! Please advise me.

Have you already interviewed? If so, I don't think resigning now will be an issue if you're really set on doing something different - no matter the outcome with MBA admissions.

If you haven't been interviewing with schools and still want an MBA, I strongly discourage you from quitting your job.

Many thanks indeed for your reply. I have two schools in mind (SOM is my #1 choice). I would be re-applying for SOM (Round 2). My interview earlier this year went very well (applied for class of 2022. Was shortlisted but it unfortunately did not work out).

Do you know if/why this year will be different?
