I think I am not getting in anywhere and should look at alternative careers. Or I have been listening to The Smiths a little too much.

From reading the past year's forums it seems like SOM only sends invites on one particular day of the week. Which based on last week's posts seems to be Friday.

One obvious trend to the invites posted to date on here...all above the new median GMAT. Doesn't seem like Yale is too holistic.

The last years post is VERY unreliable. Yale SOM definitely sent out invites at multiple days.

Yeah I agree. But I don't blame SOM alone on that. Almost all schools have their median GMAT increased year over year. Really annoying. I have a crazy theory that they filter applicants by their GMAT score and then look at other stuff.

I think your belief is spot on.

It's a little sad because I come from a country where test scores almost mean everything, and once you've performed poorly in a test there's almost no going back as most b schools have algorithms based on undergrad GPA and sometimes even high school scores. The B Schools, in the US, are different because they know (or used to practice) that test scores are not everything. I have a friend who has dyslexia and disgraphia both, and will probably not ace the GMAT, but who is doing really well for himself in a line of work that requires a great amount of analysis and critical thinking.

Long story short, I don't like how this is becoming a numbers game.

Well it's the median for a reason. Meaning 50% above and 50% below. The people invited so far are too few to make such a sweeping statement. They could just be 5 or 6 of the nearly 150 people that represent that "50% above median" population :) utilizing my GMAT skills here
