Got the interview invite! Trying to decide how to draft the response and whether I should request the interview by Skype or in a city near me.

I highly recommend interviewing at a hub city or at Yale.

Skype takes away the human element (though one of my friends from class of '18 got in with a Skype interview).

Also, the best thing to do now is practice interviewing.

Refreshing here or on ClearAdmit does you no good (though I was guilty of that).

Best of luck.

I am guessing the adcom doesn't work on Saturday? So no invites to be expected today I am guessing?

Very excited to meet those scheduling to interview! I wish all other schools got back to people so quickly. Assuming we will all have to wait another few weeks... Anyone hear back anywhere else?

I was wondering the same thing. Hopefully will be able to make it to campus! No hub cities nearby...

Is a Skype interview going to really put me at such a huge disadvantage? There are no hub cities near me at all. I would imagine the admissions team would be quite understanding when it comes to international students.

Also, I just had a look at the available skype interview dates and they are all in November. Did I just register late or are there simply no earlier dates?

I know many people who got in with Skype interveiws (not only Yale but other top schools too) so it is acceptable. However, I think attending in person shows that Yale is on your priority list. Also, I think it's important to have a good reason why you can't attend other than that its just too far...

Btw, Where did you see the available dates for Skype interview?? I only see the campus days... Is there anywhere that shows the available dates for hub city interviews too? Thanks!!

Alejandro- To answer your second question, I believe I was one of the first to register, and the earliest available time was late October (the 28th I think). There were only a few time slots so it's not surprising that was filled up.

This is an email reply I found in last years thread that sheds some light on the process. Seems like interview invites were streaming in for a couple of months after first deadline. This was posted on October 8th.

Hello from New Haven! The leaves are beginning to turn, students are nearing mid-terms, and apple cider, pumpkin spice, and cinnamon are in the air!

I wanted to let you know that Admissions is still working very hard in reviewing applications and sending out invites! So if you have not received yours yet, don't fret; many if not most are still yet to be sent out. The way the process works is that multiple folks in AdCom read each application and they are distributed randomly among several people, so even if say, four people were going to review your application and three have already done so, you're invitation for an interview wouldn't be sent out until the final AdCom member has given the thumbs up. This being said, to my knowledge these aren't done by geographic location - everything's done in a methodically random process so everybody has the exact same opportunity to be read "first." Everybody in each round is treated equally.

This is soothing.
