Highly Unlikely that even extracurriculars will help. I have start ups, Named NGOs, Top notch extracurriculars and political and social recognition- the top 15 didn’t even care. Even UCLA gave a feedback that I need to improve GMAT only back in 2020. (If you are an Indian, they will surely look at the GMAT more closely) The odds of a low GMAT to be compensated by other aspects only in terms of Diversity (the Diversity they recognise as diversity, not the actual diversity). Also, Quantification is important, so when anyone tells you that you can get in with a low GMAT, ask the numbers and percentage compared to others who got in- it is a smarter way of understanding the actual odds.
Just to provide a little strength to the above statement that can be opposed by- "your essays may have been horrible". I own my own consulting firm for MBA admissions and have gotten clients from Ivy to top 20.
