Just a random concern. Whoever joining 2023-25 batch, are you guys sure of securing placements, since the world is facing an economic downturn and it might peak by that time ?

That explains why we have so less applications especially for stern which has such an exorbitant cost of living and notorious for granting scholarships.

As an Indian am worried and need significant scholarship. Only then an mba at a shool like stern would make sense.

I agree bro. Same here. My profile doesn’t allow me for the top schools like crème de la crème schools. Being realistic, I rely on my GMAT score and WE. Hopefully rest falls in place by and during Round 2. Scary times tbh

Are the applications down though? As far as I’ve read, they go up during economic downturns because jobs get scarce, and jobs which earlier they could have gotten without an MBA reduce so the need to upskill goes up

The inr $ rate is 82.6 and it is expected to go up again till 85. I guess for an average middle class Indian, it is very difficult to take such a high loan even if they provide some scholarship. Not even considering the living expenses, which will go rooftop as real estate prices are at an all time high

I don’t think it makes sense to look at the conversion rate, unless you plan to go back to India. If you work in the US, you’ll be earning in dollars, so the conversion rate should not make much of a difference.

we will be provided with i believe 2 years of work Visa post MBA and then converting it to whole time will be a bit difficult i believe. I may be wrong.

I am not saying the process will be easy. Finding a job, H1b visa etc. will be a challenge no doubt. But that’s the part of the process. I am just trying to be positive here and all I am saying is that worrying about this will not help.

Agree with this. I think we’ll have about 6-7 months (for folks who’ve applied in R1) to decide whether to join the program or look at other avenues. Having an admit from Stern is a good option to have. One can always re-evaluate things at a later time.
