Hi everyone

MBA 2022 applicant here.

I was just wondering whether you guys received an email after the deadline with details about when they will start sending interview invites for MSX? If yes, when did they say they will start?

Thanks

Hi! I received an email after the deadline saying that the program start is delayed for MSx Class of 2021, but the decision date is the same - 23 April 2020. There was no information in the email with regard to interview invitations. I received the invitation yesterday.

I too received the interview invite on 04/12. Are you done with your interview, how did it go? I did mine today, went well.

Congrats to those who got admitted!

No, congrats to you Emma! Notwithstanding the opportunity cost, who is foolish enough right now to incur $130K+ for a one-year, likely-to-be-largely online program?

Current MBA and MSx students sure aren't happy. See "The Student Revolt Over MBA Tuition For Online Classes" by Poets&Quants.

Very unwise to quit a job during a global pandemic and return to school. Hold onto your job!

Remember, the last recession started in 2007. Things got a lot worse before they got better.

One year from now when the recession is raging and the class of 2021 students are being conferred their online degrees with terrible prospects, you'll be glad you weren't admitted this year.

COVID-19 is wreaking havoc on the Stanford MSx program!

Hadamard, please provide updates and more insights on your now-online degree program.

According to Poets&Quants, it seems the value proposition has gone out the window: "The Student Revolt Over MBA Tuition For Online Classes"

What's your advice now for this forum that you so boastfully started last year "class of 2020...MOST COMPETITIVE year in MSx history"? Any regrets?

Seeing as how your username is off-putting and you seem to be posting seemingly negative things, did you just come here to troll?

Accuracy can be off-putting. If trolls are truth-speakers to you, then I guess so. What part of my username or comments do you dispute? You didn't say. BTW, my MBA was conferred 10 years ago.

Nothing new about my comments. Here's some good reading from 2013 -- Google search this Quartz article: "If you can’t get into a top-five MBA program, don’t even bother". Oh and FinanceMan, I work in finance.

Tim Cook, Melinda Gates, and my friend Michael Prince did not attend a top 5 MBA program. Are top 5 programs great? Absolutely. However, realistically, the top 25 are very fine schools with great job prospects. We will have to agree to disagree I am sure.

I am glad to hear you work in finance. It is a great field.

You're missing the point. Top-5~25...arguably the same. That's just the title of an article. The point is value/ROI of graduate business degrees themselves--especially when one is doing a full-time program and graduation timing is important.

Melinda is a nobody without Bill. But your other known name is worth dissecting: Tim Cook. His MBA is from a reputable school: Duke. But he did so while working for IBM and the company paid for it--in 1988. Would IBM pay today? Almost certainly no.

Few b-school candidates are company-sponsored anymore (some partial tuition reimbursement isn't the same thing). Things long ago changed. Smart Tim didn't quit his job then and wouldn't today--especially during a pandemic.

Still, if he had, that MBA in 1986-88 was a lot less expensive relative to median income. And there were many less MBA degree holders as a % of the population then. The ROI was there. Now, graduate business degrees are a commodity and very costly relative to median income.
