Hi Ash3030,

Each CAT/mock is really a 'measuring device' - when used correctly, it will give you a realistic score and help define your strengths and weaknesses, but it will NOT help you to fix any of those weaknesses. To raise your scores, you have to learn the necessary Tactics and put in the proper practice and repetitions. The CAT will show you whether your studies are helping you to improve or not. By extension, since you are retaking the GMAT in a couple of weeks, if you scored notably lower than your Goal Score on your prior attempt, then you will almost certainly need to do far more than just take another couple of CATs to improve your overall skills.

Before I can offer you any additional advice for your studies, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) On what date(s) have you taken the Official GMAT and how did you score on each attempt (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores)?
2) How long have you studied? How many hours do you typically study each week?
3) What study materials have you used so far? What “brands” of CATs/mocks have you used?
4) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?

Goals:
5) What is your overall goal score?
6) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

Hi Ash3030,

Did you repeat the two free official practice exams?

Hi EMPOWERgmatRichC !
Thank you for such a detailed reply! I completely agree with you that I will need to do more than just take a couple of CATs. I have kept a detailed error log and will be working on my weak areas about 2 hours a day every weekday and 4-5 hours every weekend. But I do need a test to practice 3-4 days before the actual test.

Is there anything you would suggest I do in the next two weeks? I am targeting a score of 750 and above. I will be taking the test again on the 23rd. Thanks again!

Thank you! But I have a concern here - wouldn't reseting the test inflate my score due to repeat questions?
Hi Ash3030,

Yes, it almost certainly would, but there aren't too many good options available. The final call on the trade-offs is yours.

I need suggestions on what other tests I can use. I only need one or two test.

There is the mock in the Official-Guide book you may be able to leverage. If you gave Official Mock 1 quite a while back when you were significantly less prepared, you may find some value in retaking it as well.

GmatTutorKnight I took the repeat tests in the month of May. I have utilized all the other official resources as well. I guess my best bet it to just reset the MGMATs.

Honestly, you have taken a ton of tests. I don't think you need to take more...

FYI Thought you may find this helpful - GMAT Club tests will open for 24 hours and you will be able to take unlimited tests on Aug 15. Just search for free test on holidays topic.

Also you can win one of over 100 GMAT Club test subscriptions during the MBA spotlight fair on Friday and Saturday.

ScottTargetTestPrep I was just wondering if I need to take one practice test just to get into the exam mindset. I could just do some practice sets instead. Thank you for all the help!

EMPOWERgmatRichC Thanks! Have sent you a response!

bb Thanks! Will be attending an MBA spotlight event anyways, thanks for the extra incentive!
