Great news!! How will this impact scoring? I mean to say that verbal plays a really important role as it was in the end. So it was one of the deciding factors.
Also those who have booked the date already and their test is/on after July 11, 2017, will they experience the new change in the test ?

Also will this new feature increase the level of difficulty of the questions in both verbal and quant sections? Great news but lot of confusion.

Here is the latest news from GMAC regarding the changes in the exam format :

New GMAT Exam Feature Offers Greater Control and Flexibility
Select Section Order Allows Test Takers to Customize Their GMAT Experience by Choosing the Section Order in which They Take the Exam
RESTON, Va., June 15, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- In a continuing effort to enhance the GMAT exam experience for test takers, the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) today announced the upcoming launch of Select Section Order, a new feature that will provide candidates the flexibility to customize their GMAT experience by choosing the section order in which they feel most comfortable taking the exam. Select Section Order will be available to test takers worldwide beginning July 11, 2017.
“The idea of being allowed to choose the section order had been commonly requested by test takers,” said Ashok Sarathy, vice president, Product Management, GMAC. “We conducted a pilot in 2016 to test this feature and received overwhelmingly positive feedback, with 85 percent of participants surveyed expressing that this new feature boosted their confidence prior to even taking the exam. Our pilot findings also concluded that taking the exam in different section orders continues to maintain the quality and integrity of the GMAT scores.”
The GMAT has four sections. When implemented on July 11, test takers will select their desired section order at the test center on exam date, immediately prior to the start of the exam. Test takers will be able to choose from three options:
Analytical Writing Assessment, Integrated Reasoning, Quantitative, Verbal (original order);
Verbal, Quantitative, Integrated Reasoning, Analytical Writing Assessment; or
Quantitative, Verbal, Integrated Reasoning, Analytical Writing Assessment.
These new changes are a continuation of the steps GMAC has implemented in recent years to enhance the test takers’ GMAT experience, including:
the ability to cancel scores online after leaving the test center and the enhanced score reinstatement policies (March 2016),
removing cancelled scores from school score reports; allowing candidates to retake the GMAT exam after a 16-day time period rather than the previous 31-day retake period; and enabling test takers to access their Official Score Report online using their date of birth instead of an authentication code (July 2015),
introduction of the GMAT Enhanced Score Report, which provides test takers access to an in-depth analysis of their overall GMAT performance (January 2015), and
introduction of GMAT Score Preview, enabling test takers to preview their unofficial scores before deciding whether to report or cancel them (July 2014).
“The GMAT exam shows business schools that the test taker is serious about earning a graduate business degree and demonstrates the individual’s commitment and readiness for the rigors of a graduate business program,” said Sarathy. “Today, 9 out of 10 new MBA enrollments at the top 50 U.S. full-time MBA programs are made using a GMAT score.”

So how will this impact your score :
Experts please share your view and some tips for people who have their exam scheduled just before this change. Should they go for rescheduling to take advantage of the revised format.

I would prefer to spend an extra $50 and get it postponed by a week atleast. Its better to get a good score at the first time.

In the end, does it really matter?
1). You may look at IR and AWA a warmup act. It happens in sports or during workout. What if you don't do the warm up?
2.) Does it mean that when you start off with the tough section, tax your brains, you can still very well handle your easier section?

3.) Or, if you start off with a session easy to you, get your brains worked out, will you fail to grapple with the section that is tough to you?

I dont think that is going to be valid at all.

Its free if you re-schedule your test before 22nd July!
Read below FAQ from mba.com.

Q. I already have a GMAT exam scheduled. Should I reschedule it to take advantage of this new feature?
A: The decision to reschedule is up to you. For those that have already done significant preparation for the GMAT and are already prepared to take the exam, you may feel comfortable proceeding with your exam as scheduled, as the original section order will be available.

If you would like to reschedule your GMAT exam to take advantage of the new Select Section Order feature, you can call GMAC Customer Service to reschedule your exam. Both your reschedule fee and phone fee ($10) will be waived if your request is received within a 7-day grace period of the announcement (request via phone must be received on or prior to June 22, 2017). Remember, you have to call in to customer service by June 22 to have the fee waived.

After the grace period, you may reschedule your GMAT exam online, at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment, for the standard reschedule fee.

No problem! I will merge the discussions. Thanks Mihir. But I am curious to know. Are you taking the GMAT anytime soon? Will you consider switching orders? To what?

Yes ..i am taking gmat on 11th July (i booked 8th july earlier but than reschedule it after this announcement)..

I took two mocks one each with option B (quant-verbal-ir-awa) and C (verbal-quant-ir-awa) but to my surprise I got a lower score in verbal in mock in which I started verbal first...so will do couple of more test before zeroing onto something..

Personally, I am inclined to quant first and then verbal for the simple reason that quant is my strong front and a good quant will boost my confidence and I don't think 75 mins can affect the concentration that much to change my verbal score ...
