Sharing my decision and my perception of the master's program:
I chose the CBS program in Cand Merc. Finance and Investments. It is a relatively new program, very challenging, quantitative, competitive and demanding.
The program has both mandatory courses (quantitative methods, derivatives & fixed income, empirical finance) and electives.
I'd recommend the program specifically for those who want to move their career towards trading, asset management, funds, investment banking. If you consider working in consulting or business finance, I would suggest to stay away from the course.
What surprised me about the program:
It is very competitive and difficult to get good grades. The curriculum is vast and the pace is high. It is possible to work on side of your studies, but you will need to be satisfied with mediocre performance at CBS.
If I had known this before I may have chosen another finance master's in CBS itself.
The amazing thing about CBS it is that is so connected to the working market, that you can get great conversations with bankers, traders, consultants of any kind. The move towards the working place is seamless.
Overall I am more than happy with my choice. Although Goethe and Mannheim are also amazing schools.
