I'm trying to define exactly why I want an MBA and I'm looking to get some feedback on my "why" please.

Goal: I currently work at a mid-tier digital marketing firm and want to get a 2 year full-time MBA in order to be placed in a management role within the digital marketing department at a top company (i.e. Twitter, Google, Apple, Nike, etc.)

What, if anything, is wrong with my goal?

Hi thomaskwelker

I wish you success in your journey

Every adcom knows that applicants wants to enhance his/her career. But they want what skills do you have and what skills you want to gain. Do not be hesitated to show weakness in your essays. For example, you show weakness in finance or describe a situation that lead lead to think in MBA. You mau consider a profile of someone in those big tech companies and see what you lack. Be authentic in smart way. Sometimes working with good consultant will help you.

Nothing wrong with your goal- and I can see the rationale. But I would challenge you to do more research from people working at your target firms- what kinds of analyses are they doing that is something an MBA can help you obtain? What classes? What professors? clubs? Try to dig down to a more granular level and that will make your application a) more believable - because it shows you took the time to gather specifics b) more useful to you as you will be learning the things you need to do to be successful with your target recruiting firms. Best wishes to you- and if you are still applying in R2 there is time to work with a consultant to help you more specifically. If you'd like to reach out for a free consult,
