I agree with daagh. E is the only possible answer here, although it still doesn't read like a real GMAT question. I'd be careful about studying from random collections of questions. At least if you study individual questions here on GC, you can see if people are criticizing the question or individual answers as unrepresentative of the real test.

Whats wrong with A?

" Dr. Russel’s hypothesis of the teeth belonging to an extinct animal was verified ........"
is "hypothesis of the teeth ..." awkward/incorrect.
