Hello
today I stumbled over an ambiguity that arose due to a mistake I made while exercising.
If we assume that the question asks: Is z=x+2?
and the first statement (1) says: z=x+2
the statement is sufficient as it allows us to answer the question with a definite 'yes'.
If the second statement (2) says: z=x
would this be a sufficient statement? With this statement we could give a definite 'no' to the question marking this statement as sufficient.
So my questions are, as this is not an original questions I faced,
1. Concerning the nature, would both statements independently been seen as sufficient statements?
2. Does the GMAT allow for two statements that both give a different answer to the yes/no question as in the case above?
Thanks for your answers in advance!

On the GMAT, two data sufficiency statements always provide TRUE information and these statements NEVER contradict each other or the stem.
