Hi, guys.
Which online courses should I choose to boost my verbal score?

I started to learn GMAT verbal part a couple days ago.
I wanna boost my verbal score cuz I'm Japanese, and it is generally said that Japanese GMAT takers are not good at Verbal part.
To make matters worse, as far as I know, there is no good and reasonable verbal school in my country.
(It costs around from 2k to 6k US dollars to enrol the clam school for GMAT verbal in Tokyo at least.... omg)
*I've already done the preparation of the Quant so that I don't need any materials or lessons of it.

Considering above, I look for the best choice of online course which costs us around 1k US dollars or below.
Hence, I've narrowed two choices: EMPOWERgmat or OptimusPrep.
Anyone can tell me the effective recommendation to boost my verbal score?

I see that class fee is also an important thing that you consider while taking a class.

I know that taking an online class could be useful for someone while preparing GMAT. However, in case that cost DOES matter, then why don't you consider self-study? There are many members who succeeded getting high GMAT score with a good strategy.

Let's consider these things. There are a lot of materials you could download for free (I don't specify them here for copyright purpose). There are a lot of useful tips and tricks as well as good strategies you could find in GmatClub. Also, there are a lot of ways to get free full length CATs that you could find in this forum. Why don't you try them?

If you attend an online class, you still have to self-study for better result. An online class offers you good guidance or detail explanations. In this forum, there are a lot of experts in Quant and Verbal sections.

"It is generally said that Japanese GMAT takers are not good at Verbal part", this sentence could be right or wrong, but verbal part makes a lot of test takers around the world worry about, even native speakers, let alone Japanese. You are not alone.

Hence, in my opinion, a good strategy could boost up your verbal score well. If you could handle money well, then someone could help you choose a good online course. If you are in trouble financially, then setting up a good strategy and keeping practice are the only way you could do, at almost no cost, to improve your verbal score.

Thanks! Basically, I agree with your opinion. Of course I do study by my self.
BUT, I believe the online course would help and accelerate the efficiency so that I'm considering which should I take.
Anyway, thanks.

Hi,

Both Courses are rich in verbal, but there are 2 main points of difference (in my point of view)
1. price
2. Number of practice questions

EMpOWERgmat have less number of practice questions than Optimas
while the price of empoergmat is more economical, so the selection is yours ...

Thank you for sharing the information!
Well, do you have any ideas or information about the lesson video quality ?
The price range is not a big deal on both of them cuz it's 1000 US dollars below.

Hi rjberger19.

I have used both EMPOERgmat and Optimus Prep (The trial version) and specifically tried the sentence correction in both and I can tell you, you can’t really go wrong. Both are fantastic courses with user friendly interface. In order to make an informed decision I would highly encourage you to go to their websites and try on their 1 hour free trial and decide for yourself which one do you like better. Further I see you are a new member here at GMATCLUB and when you sign up at GMATCLUB you get a free 3 days access to EMPOERgmat course. In fact it is the only way to get the deal which is very kool.

Further I would highly encourage you to consider e-gmat verbal online or the e-gmat verbal live course. They are both amazing courses especially designed for non-natives and they are both within your budget. They offer almost 25% of their courses for free so you can try out their free trial to decide which one you want to go for. Plus the e-gmat Scholaranium, which is included in both the courses is one of the best verbal practice tools in the market.

Hope this helps. All the best.
