Hi everyone, I am about to graduate from my undergrad, and the next phase of my journey is an MBA (that's how it looks like to me, I am open to advices on this). I am super passionate about finance - and have relevant experience in this domain. As a result, top finance schools are my target for an intake in September of 2026 (I am 21 now, would be 25 then) - need some advice on how I can best utilize the next 3-4 years to get myself ready.
Here's how my profile looks right now. I am due to graduate in 2023. I am a 21 year old Indian Male - aiming for an
MBA admit in 2026
Academics: Majored in Business and Finance from the No.1 rated undergrad business college in the country. 98.5% in Grade 12 (Valedictorian). About to give my CFA and FRM Level 1s (I expect to be done with them by 2024). I gave my first levels of CA/CS, before deciding to drop out
Extracurriculars: I was the School Treasurer, headed the literary club in college, wrote and edited the college magazine, and co-authored 6 papers in finance and economics (this is where I was first introduced to Stern's rockstar professors). These papers are very quant heavy and focuses heavily on crypto, equity and debt markets.
Internship: 3 Months at a Big 4 doing supply chain consulting, 8 months as an investment analyst at a Singapore based VC fund (I was 1/14 members of the India team), 3 months as a investment analyst at a Buy-side Infrastructure PE major (office's first Pre-MBA Intern) and 5 months working with as an investment analyst at a advisory firm to Korean PE/VCs
Work Experience: I interned with and am about to join a renewable energy developer - I have project finance deal experience working with them, and can make financial models in project/structured finance from the ground up. This is my strong suite.
Certifications: I have a bunch of coursera certifications from major universities in econometrics, finance and valuations. But I do not feel these are of much value.
It would be great to know what I can do next to develop my profile for NYU Stern, or a strong finance school.
Thank you, and have a great day ahead.
