Hi SS101,
Thanks for reaching out. First, some thoughts on your profile. Your GPA and GMAT are both strong. Perhaps not the strongest amongst other engineering graduates from your demographic though, so that is a factor in your admissions chances. Is a GMAT retake possible?
That is great you are in a team management role and have had strong progression in your roles. 8 years is a bit above the average for most schools - certainly not a dealbreaker, but makes your Why MBA explanation really crucial (especially if you are planning to remain in finance). I also might consider "alternate" programs like one-year/accelerated, programs in Europe, part-time, etc. though I'm not sure if those fit with your personal needs.
By the way, because you have a finance background does not mean you should necessarily target finance schools. If you are looking to expand your options, then a school that offers broader opportunities/resources, may be even better. Your choice of target schools depends on many factors, and you should consider things like curriculum approach, culture, location, career resources, beyond just rankings. Our Insider's Guides are great resources for researching these factors:

Hi all, I am grateful for any advice you have. Can you please give an indication of the best schools I can get in?
I have a finance background so please suggest according to that (I guess it's best if I apply to school known for finance).
Details of my profile:
Bio: Age 31, Male, Indian.
GMAT: 720 (Q49, V40, IR 3, AWA 5)
Career: 8 years experience in investment banking (back-end / off-shore). Good growth / promotions. Currently in team-management / leadership role.
Education: Graduated in 2011 - Btech in Engineering from IIT Roorkee - GPA of 7.3/10.0.
Please let me know what schools I should target, based on this score.
I'll be very grateful for any advice on that front.
Thanks a lot everyone!
