BB and others,

Need some serious advice here.

I finally took the GMAT today, and got a 730 (Q: 49(91%), V: 40(90%)).

I agree both the Verbal and the Quant were *far* tougher than on the PP tests. Lots of wierd algebra - really tough long equations which seemed like you couldn't solve without additional information, but backsolving with different numbers landed up giving unique answers. I must say, I was not at all as calm and composed while taking the real test as during taking the practice ones.

My question now is how good is this score for a top rated US university (S/W/H/Berk/MIT), or should I take the test again? and will that even make a difference? In my practice tests in Kaplan, PP, and PR I was getting consistently getting between 760 to 780, with Q being always 50 or 51, and verbal 46 higher.

The rest of my Bschool application is fairly strong but ofcourse not stellar by any means.

Another veteran :war
(i mean your reg date)

I think you are right around average for the schools you are targetting. If I were you, I would have written a few schools right now and actually ask them! They are more open than you may think - I would recommend MIT for a start - very nice people. I once had a question and I got 7 replies within one day from various people and that was during the admission season.

Just go to the source and don't listen to the clowns on BW cause they have nothing else to do except showing off virtually due to the inability to it otherwise.

Which preparation materia was the closest to the real one?
In every section: ps, ds, cr, sc and rc?
