Hi all,
I want to know if my rough calculation in studying time is correct? I am thinking 200 hours of studies. That is on average 10 hours/week. That would be 20 weeks. About 5 months in time. I work full time, so I am limited on my studies after work and on weekend. Is my rough time estimation correct?

Hi,
On the face of it, your calculations look sound but there are a few things to consider. First, the 200 hour estimate is based on an average test taker's initial ability, so you need to figure out where you stand with respect to the average test taker. For example, if you are not fluent in English you will require more time to acquaint yourself with the language and its idiosyncrasies. Conversely, if you belong to a STEM background you will require less time for the math part. So, before you start your study plan, I would suggest measuring your abilities first by taking a CAT.
Second, you have to consider the stretch at which you study. You have to practice sitting in front of a computer for 3 hours and maintaining the same level of clarity and thought. It's something that can only come with practice and in your case it would probably only be possible over the weekends. So, if you do 2 such sessions a week and at least an hour of study/revision a day, it'll add up to a minimum of 11 hours, and even that is on the lean side. If I were you, I would try to put in around 14-15 hours a week.
Side note: you probably shouldn't extend your prep to 5 months, the things you studied initially will be a blur at best.

I would highly recommend not spend more than 4 months and ideally get your prep done in about 3 months. That's the average pace of a prep course and there is a reason you want to keep it intense.
10 hours a week is probably low. 15 is more like it, studying 6 days a week.... 1-2 hrs during each weekday and 6-8 hrs on weekends.
