I study for more than one year. I studied most of the time with different official Gmat books and I am planning to apply by 2022. My Gmat score were 440 and 370. My target school is INSEAD. My target score goal score is above 720. I’m planning to take the Gmat on July 2020 or before the 1st round deadline.
Additional information: I also used the E-Gmat materials (scholaranium and all the different exercises).

Hi FCK89,

At this point, it's not clear whether you actually need a tutor or not. Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) How long have you studied?
I study for more than one year.

2) What study materials have you used so far?
i studied most of the time with different official Gmat books

3) How have you scored on EACH of your CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
1st time 440 v19 Q29
2nd time 370 v19 Q19

Goals:
4) What is your goal score
My target score goal score is above 720.

5) When are you planning to take the GMAT?
I’m planning to take the Gmat on July 2020 or before the 1st round deadline.

6) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
January 2022 intake

7) What Schools are you planning to apply to?
Only one school INSEAD

Additional information: I also used the E-Gmat materials (scholaranium and all

Hi FCK89,

You have given yourself plenty of time before you plan to apply to School - which is good. That having been said, raising a score that's in the high-300s or low-400s to the point that you can consistently score 720+ will likely require at least another 3 months of consistent, guided study - and you'll have to make significant improvements to how you handle BOTH the Quant and Verbal sections. Thankfully, the GMAT is a consistent, predictable Exam, so you CAN train to score at a higher level.

1) Were you studying consistently over the last year? Did you take any 'time off' from your studies? How many hours did you typically study each week?
2) Since you have been studying for a year, when was the last time you took a practice CAT/mock?

I was studying consistently over the last year. I quit my job (which was a big mistake but I was working at the same for our family business and I was basketball pro referee) to focus more on the GMAT, so I have a lot of time to work on it. I work more than 8 hrs a day. But in the end, I wasn't scoring well on the different exercises.
I started with the verbal part and I finished with the quant. I study for more than 1 year the second time. So you can see the amount of time and effort i put on this exam.
That's why I'm desperate and I need someone to help me because I lost my confidence.

The last time I took a practice was in July 2018.

Hi FCK89,

Since it's been about 1 year since you took a practice CAT Test, we really need to define your your overall Test-taking skills at this point. As such, I strongly recommend that you take a NEW practice CAT (one that you have NOT taken before) and take it in a realistic fashion (take the FULL CAT - with the Essay and IR sections, take it away from your home, at the same time of day as when you'll take the Official GMAT, etc.). Once you have that score, you should report back here and we can discuss how best to proceed.

Assuming your current GMAT score is around 400 and target score is 720+, you need to bump up by more than 300 points. That will take time and effort. First and foremost, I think you should put away your GMAT books for the next month and take out your high school books. Go through the basics of Math (Algebra, Arithmetic and Geometry). Be comfortable with fractions, decimals, equations, quadratics etc. Once all that is sorted, then you can pick up your GMAT books once again and go through the entire curriculum front to back. You might want to take a look at some fresh set of books to pique your interest.
We have some free resources for you to try out: https://www.gmatclub.com/forum/veritas-prep-resource-links-no-longer-available-399979.html#/free-resources/

Once the entire curriculum is done, you can try some official questions for practice and start taking practice tests. You would probably see a 600+ score at that time. Thereafter, it is an iterative process of identifying weaknesses and working on them with every practice test.

Hi FCK89,

I agree that it would be helpful to take a full length practice exam, so we can see where you are at.

Also, before thinking about a GMAT tutor, the real question that you need to answer is why, after a year of prep, you are still far off your score goal. Although a tutor can certainly help you improve your GMAT skills, the bulk of your prep will still be done independently. Thus, even if you end up working with a tutor, you want to ensure that you use thorough prep materials to improve your GMAT skills in between your sessions. With that in mind, I recommend that you spend some time reading success stories of past GMAT students as well as reviews of various GMAT prep courses to see what prep materials have worked for other test-takers.

You also may find it helpful to read this article about
how to score a 700+ on the GMAT.
