The Exam Pack 1 was released in September 2013 and the underlying set of questions that are used to create the adaptive practice tests have not changed over the last two years. Purchasing another copy of Exam Pack 1 will be of no use.

Hi

What's the overlap between the questions in Exam Pack 1 new (you are selling now) and the ones in the Exam Pack 1 I bought in December last year?

I ve taken alreayd 2 reset CATs in my exmap pack 1 so I am thinking of purchasing another pack if the questions are different.

Hello,

The questions in Exam Pack I have not changed since it was released. So, if you have already purchased Exam Pack I, you would not get any additional questions by purchasing again. We are working on Exam Pack II however, and are planning to release it later this year, so please keep up with us on this forum and our other online presences to make sure you know when it's available. Hi

What's the overlap between the questions in Exam Pack 1 new (you are selling now) and the ones in the Exam Pack 1 I bought in December last year?

Jeremy,

This is great news. Thank you for the update. I have been critical of GMAC over the years for not releasing enough fresh official GMAT content to help students prepare, but over the last few years they have made a consistent effort to add a whole suite of new products(Question Pack 1, Exam Pack 1, etc.). The addition of Exam Pack 2 would bring the total number of official CATs to six, which is a solid amount of practice to get ready for the GMAT. Bravo and thank you to every one at GMAC.

If you took the tests in Exam Pack 1 sequentially then there should not be any overlap. What that means is that you should take Test 3 once, then take Test 4, and if you do this then the questions in each test will be unique. This is how the software is meant to be used. However, if you take Test 3 twice(not recommended) and then take Test 4, then you will see repeat questions in the Test 4 administration.

dabral, when I gave exam pack 3 and exam pack 4 in that sequence , I saw 3 repeat questions where 2 were repeat questions (both in verbal) across 3 and 4 while, the 3rd one was repeat in the exam #4, one at question 12 and the other at 37.

What I usually end up doing with repeat questions is 1. Make sure to answer them correctly ,2. Take the most time allowed for that particular question type so as to not have undue time advantage. But I think GMAC should be careful of the GMATPREP software and not let questions repeat especially when you sequentially take 3 followed by 4 without repeating either of them.

That is highly unusual, I haven't seen it and neither any of my students have encountered it. Let's hope the GMAC folks are aware of it and let's hear from them if this should be an issue or not.

I think what happened is that I accidentally pressed the "reset" button... :(


On my home computer, it shows both my Exam 3 and Exam 4 have not been taken.

On my computer at work, the GMATPrep software indicates that I have finished exam 3. If I take the GMATPrep software at work, I will get unique questions for Exam 4. Is there a way I can transfer this to my home computer?

There is only one version of the GMATPrep Exam Pack 1. Once you take an exam more than once you will begin to see repeat questions. Great that you figured out and thanks for sharing. I know in the original GMATPrep software, one could swap out test data for different students along the lines of what you did but I wasn't sure about the recent version.

one more question: is the question pool in the exam pack 1 larger than that in the free gmat prep cats? i am asking to figure out whether one can retake exam pack some additional times compared to free gmac cats and still see fewer repeat questions.

Hello,

I'm assuming you're referring to the free GMATPrep software vs. the Exam Pack (please correct me if I am wrong). The amount of questions in these two are exactly the same. So, if you take either of the two tests located in the free app (Exam 1 or Exam 2) or Exam Pack (Exam 3 or Exam 4), more than once, you will receive repeated questions.

Each practice test consists of 12 IR, 37 Quantitative, and 41 Verbal questions.
