As said, and you already know, that you don't need to convert your GPA to a scale of 4.0. Some who post converted GPAs do simple airthmetic or use an online tool or a professional service. The resulting output may be at variance with how schools will perceive the GPA, because they follow their own methodology. You may find this post pertinent to your query:
