Hi guys, I was awarded this Fellowship as part of one of my offers and I checked out the website - it looks like it is a great network for women but I'm not sure how exclusive it is. It appears that any female professional can pay a membership fee of $25 per year to be a member, whether or not they are in an MBA program. Perhaps the Forte Fellowships that are within a B School network are more prestigious (possibly the way a certain sorority's chapter has more standing on one campus than another even though it's the same national organization) but my general sense is, although it of course an honor to be awarded any special recognition in this already competitive process, you can still find ways to be involved even if you don't get it as part of your acceptance.

Yes. There are Forte fellows at most top business schools.

The simple answer is yes -- we worked with a woman last year who was awarded one with her acceptance to Wharton.

It is a very competitive program but if you are awarded one, it comes with great prestige. Also, her credentials were very impressive and she worked the system hard to get this award.

Good luck.

Could you explain "worked the system hard"? My understanding was that these were chosen by the school same as other scholarships. I know a classmate that was one, she came from a male dominated industry, though I don't know if that had anything to do with it, but would suspect this was a theme in apps.

Whoa no.....anyone can pay $50/year to be a member of Forte's general network....but a Forte Fellowship is different. You have to be selected by the school for that (incidentally, the fellowship comes with free lifetime access to their general network). It is prestigious and exclusive.

It appears that only ~11 people/school are awarded the fellowship per year (class of 2014 has 465 fellows, and there are 42 member schools; though I'd imagine larger schools have more, and smaller schools have fewer). Schools like HBS, Wharton, CBS, Tuck, Anderson, Stern, and Haas participate. Source: https://www.fortefoundation.org/site/Pag ... 0Dpil5RFmo

Has anyone that has been told by their school that they are a Forte Fellow gotten any notice from the actual Forte Foundation as a confirmation?

Aaaaand is anyone going there from northern California and would like to let me be your carpool buddy? ;)

Hello all,

I was chosen to be part of Forte's MBA Launch 2015 (a 10-month program that helps women in their MBA application). Forte is a great foundation and I am very excited to be part of this program. I agree with everyone that schools make the decision regarding the forte fellowship. It is like any merit scholarship except that it's only addressed for women.

I understand that this thread may be dated but I have some related questions about the Forte Fellowship and being a Forte Fellow.

I have been selected as a Forte Fellow at one of the schools I was accepted to (very honoured to be a fellow and grateful for the extra $) but how selective it is actually? Do most of the female MBA students get selected as a Forte Fellow? And is being a Forte Fellow helpful in terms of securing a summer internship & post graduation position?

Hey manymore,

first of all CONGRATULATIONS on being selected as a Forte Fellow!
Forte foundation supports women in business by offering them scholarships and opportunities to advance your career.
I am currently an MBA Launcher with Forte and planning to apply to business school in Fall 2016.
You should be very proud of yourself, because it is selective. The school that you apply to picks 2 sometimes more (depending how big the school is and how many sports they have in mind for Forte fellows + how much funding they received). It usually ranges between 15K-25K (I might be wrong).
They do certainly help you in your career because you have access to a network of leaders!

Best of luck!

I was just offered the forte fellow from 2 B-schools, both for full rides. Maybe stuff has changed or it's different for second tier schools, but just so you know, some forte fellowships come with more than just a bit of scholarship money so I assumed it was quite prestigious.

I am awarded with Forte fellowship with my Manchester MBA offer. I think this is a great honor and it comes with not only network opportunities but also tuition discount. So be proud of yourself if you get it too. And pls bear in mind that it is not like any woman with an MBA offer is automatically awarded this scholarship. I believe there is a selection process behind it.

So any update about how this fellowship is currently perceived? And, does that very by school? It appears Darden names every female who gets merit scholarship money a Forte Scholar, but it does not appear that is true at other schools ( or maybe it is, but they don't come out and say it. So is code on your resume for I got a Merit scholarship? Does it mean more based on the school you attend? And/or would a hiring company even notice?

I'm pretty sure "Fellows" are much more prestigious than just "scholars". I think most women are named scholars at all schools because they are women pursuing an mba and will receive at least a little bit of scholarship money. "Fellows" I believe are usually full-rides but I'm not 100% on that.

"Forté Fellowships are prestigious, competitive awards that are recognized within the business school community and beyond. Forté Fellows exhibit exemplary leadership, represent diverse backgrounds, and demonstrate a commitment to advancing women in business".

In the past few years, ARINGO candidates received the Forté Fellowships upon admission to MBA programs at NYU, IESE, Cornell.

sarriph one of my recent clients received a Forte Fellow award and it was 50% of tuition; not sure that is the case every time but wanted to let you know its not always 100%. She just graduated from IESE in case youre curious.
