My lease is signed, my ticket to US has been bought, but I can't help but think:
Is an MBA at a Top 10 or Top 15 US school (like Duke Fuqua or Tuck) really worth it?
I am struggling and can't justify the cost. after 6 years of investment experience at a prestigious US investment firm and living in the northeast for 10+ years, my h1-b visa has expired and my only way to stay in the USA is to attend b school. However, given the high MBA cost and uncertainty of being an international citizen in US, I have almost entirely reconsidered my decision to attend b-school. While I earned a $50K scholarship, the remaining $130 remain, and I may well have to go back to Europe because of visa requirements upon graduation, and remain in crippling debt unless I find a company that will sponsor me for a green card right off the bat...
Additionally, some of the current students expressed disappointment with the program and regret enrolling.
I am currently in Europe and am tempted to defer by a year and simply find a job in Europe (will have to figure out everything from scratch) Cost for this 2 year MBA, which won't give me the same options US students will have, simply doesn't seem like a sound investment. (I've asked the school for financial aid twice already) I eagerly welcome your advice if you've been in a similar boat. Thanks!
