Hi resolve166,

Many Test Takers end up feeling a bit overwhelmed by the process of studying for the GMAT, so you're not alone. Thankfully, the GMAT is a consistent, predictable Exam, so you CAN train to score at a higher level. I'd like to know a bit more about your first Official GMAT:

1) When did you take the GMAT?
2) What were the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores?
3) Did you have trouble finishing any of the sections? Did you leave any questions unanswered (or did you have to rush through a bunch of questions at the end of any of the sections)?

While your score goal is relatively modest, you will likely need another 3 months (or more) of consistent, guided study to get up to that level.

4) Going forward, how many hours do you think you can commit to studying each week?

Rich

Hi
Thanks so much for the reply. Here are the answers to ur questions:

1) When did you take the GMAT? Dec 10
2) What were the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores? 0 percentile for quant; 40th percentile for bernal
3) Did you have trouble finishing any of the sections? Did you leave any questions unanswered (or did you have to rush through a bunch of questions at the end of any of the sections)? I did not leave anything blank... I was just clueless on the math part. I didn't know where to start. I could tell they were all easy questions, all mean/average questions. I rushed the verbal because I felt I was running out of time. I get exhausted with the CR; the passages are so long. I cant focus on the point. I think I spent too much time reading. I also did awfully on the IR...

While your score goal is relatively modest, you will likely need another 3 months (or more) of consistent, guided study to get up to that level.

4) Going forward, how many hours do you think you can commit to studying each week?
I work full time but I can commit about 3 hours on week days and whatever time on weekends. I want to get this right!

I have hired a tutor. I meet him next week. I have gotten the OG 2015&16, kaplan workout math books, MG word problem book, and signed up for gmatpill.

How long should I spent studying just quant? How do I budget my time well, and know when its time to move to verbal?

Hi resolve166,

You should discuss all of this with your Tutor as he/she should be able to assess much more about your situation from the work that you two do together. That having been said, you would likely find it beneficial to do a 'mix' of Quant and Verbal studying each week (as opposed to an 'all of one subject, then all of the other' study plan).
