Although it’s tough to discern your chances at a school just on the basis of academic stats and military background, I would comment on your academics and the question you asked toward the end.
Other things being equal, an applicant’s most recent academic performance carries more weight than the previous ones. Even though you received low GPA earlier, you made some amends later. And your approach to improve your academic credentials (finance class on MBAMath website) is the right one.
Setbacks/ failures/ disasters, followed by lessons learnt, followed by improvement make for much higher impact than most applicants think. After all, that’s what real life is. Everything great about you in essays is not necessarily the most impactful.
To your question in the end, military background can give you an edge in the admission process because schools want diversity in the class, and it’s definitely not an overcrowded applicant pool. However, you’ve to convince the school on other counts.
