I will let OfficialGMAT answer this one.... However, many schools don't require receiving scores by the application deadline, instead they require that you take the GMAT before the application deadline and provide an accurate self-reported score since they can verify it at a later date before providing the final decision.

Hi Manon,
On the day of your exam, you should have the name of five (5) schools (optional) you wish to receive your Official Score Report available. The preferred institutions/schools will be entered into the system at the test center. Once you have completed your exam, if you choose to submit your scores, your selected schools will receive your score when they become reportable within 20 calendar days from the date of your exam.
Please note: If you do not choose to provide up to five (5) schools at the test center, you will have to order an Additional Score Report for $US28 each in which the school would receive your Official Score Report within 20 calendars days as well.
