During my visit to Darden today, I met the man, the myth, the legend....Pelihu. And, yes, the rumors are true, he is a b-school god! I happened to be in his Ops class, and he got "cold-called." No sweat, he was given a break-even/staffing problem, and I think it was the only time there was no discussion during the entire class. There is no need to discuss when the solution is right on!

Thanks, Pelihu, for the Darden info. This goes to show that GMAT Club is a superb resource!

Hey, that's me!

Yeah, djhouse1 came up and sat in on a class today. We had a pretty good time. I know he's still on the road, but maybe we he gets home he'll share a little about the experience.

My experience at Darden:

9:30 - First Coffee - It seemed like every student and faculty member came out for this. People were drinking coffee, eating bagels and donuts, discussing cases, talking about their weekend, and speaking with the corporate sponsors of the day--Cargill

10:00-11:30 - Read the case for my class visit. I would have toured the campus, but I decided to read the case because I did not want to be the prospective student who gets cold called and does not have anything to say. Turns out, I overprepared; prospective students are not cold called.

11:45 - Operations class. I introduced myself and answered a "question," which is a surprise for prospective students! The class was enthralling; it was all discussion-based, as most people know. The case was on Progressive Insurance, and some of Progressive's management was there to answer questions. That tallied 2 companies on campus that day! Impressive!

1:10 - 1:30 - Met with The Pelihu, talked about Darden, and discussed the application

1:30 - 3:00 - Lunch and tour with 2nd years. We ate in probably the nicest dining hall/restaurant that I have seen on a campus. Not to mention, the campus is amazing!

3:00 - 11:00 - Made my way home to South Florida, where, surprisingly, the weather was cooler than Charlottesville!

I had visited Darden back in February, man oh man is that campus nice. Postcard worthy for sure.
