What is the ideal number of schools one could apply to in a Round. 5/6/7 ?

Hi Hatakekakashi and thanks for the question! The good news about round 1 is that it is not so concentrated with all apps being due within 2 weeks of each other so you may be able to do a few more in this round if you are well prepared and are starting now. Some of the programs have already released the apps for R1 so if you are doing those now- it might be possible to get 6 or maybe 7 quality applications done although that will be cutting into your summer pool and beach time if you do that many. And this is assuming that you already have the GMAT score you want. If you need to put GMAT and school research into that, it might be less. The good side to getting them all done in one round is that you know your status and don't have to say yes or no to a school without knowing all the info from all the schools. So if you are considering this so early- means you may have time to get those round 1 applications in. Having a consultant help you could really help you avoid big mistakes and be more productive in getting those R1 applications done- so consider getting a free consult to learn more about how we can help you get it done! Usually school 1 per month of time, so assuming you have the GMAT handled, you would spend June, July, Aug, Sept, and Maybe some Oct planning and applying to about 4 schools in R1. You want to leave a few for R2 as well (what if you do not get into any in R1? That has happened to a few folks... Also what happens is that you get better and better at applications, stories, and interviews, so your R2 apps are likely to be better than R1's). There are more reasons to spread your application strategy across both R1 and R2 deadlines and avoid R3 altogether.

Hello BB ,
I'm done with my GMAT. Do i need 30 days for an application? In terms of number of hours how many hours do i need , assuming i start from scratch .

I might take a leave for about 10 days or so during august , so i'd like to put in 8-10 hours a day during the leave and usually September is when most schools end their R1 deadline .I've made a list of 8-10 schools , 6 R1 and 4 R2. ( 5 in R1 and 4 in R2 ) . I'd focus more on R1 as they say that's the best round to apply. While what you have said makes perfect sense i felt 7 schools is a stretch and might try for 6 schools and if i can't make it , will postpone the work done on the application for R2

Regards,
Hk

Makes sense... Give it a shot until it all starts blurring :-)
