If John gives Allen 5 dollars and Allen gives Frank 2 dollars, the three boys will have the same amount of money. How much more money does John have than Allen?

A. $3
B. $5
C .$6
D. $7
E. $8

John;J Frank; f Allen;a

so John gives Allen 5 dollars
J-5=A+5

then
Allen gives Frank 2 dollars
A+5-2= F+2
A+3=F+2

J-5-(A+3)
J-A-8
J-A=8

J-5≠A+5

J-5--->A+5-2---->F+2
So we end up with J-5, A+3 and F+2. We are then told that they are equal
J-5=A+3=F+2

We are then asked about John and Allen (forget Frank) at the current time, not in the hypothetical if time when he gives money. So we need to find J.
J-5=A+3
J=A+8

J has 8 more than A.
