In a certain game, in Phase 1 you flip one coin as many as 3 times. If you flip 3 tails you lose. As soon as you get your first head, you advance to Phase 2. In Phase 2, you roll a six-sided die once. If you roll a 6, you win. For any other roll, you lose. What is the probability of wining?

A. 1/48
B. 5/48
C. 7/48
D. 35/48
E. 7/8

Probability of head= 1- probability of no head
=1-1/8=7/8
(Only one case out of 8 when three tails appear)

Probability of 6=1/6

So 7/8*1/6=7/48

Phase 1 : P(H) = 1 - P(All tails)

P(H) = 1 - (1/2*1/2*1/2)

P(H) = 1 - 1/8

P(H) = 7/8 (WIN)

Phase 2 : 1/6 (WIN)

Combined win = 7/8 * 1/6

7/48
