Hi experts,
Could you please help me with a profile evaluation?
Age: 26
Country of origin: Venezuela. (currently based in France)
Academic background: Graduated from a top engineering university in Venezuela. GPA on a 1-5 scale of 4.6047. Afterwards I followed a master of science program also in engineering scoring about on a 1-20 scale.
International exposure and motivation: I have lived in three different countries. I speak fluently Spanish, French and English. A little bit of Italian as well. I have traveled to 15 different countries and visited several cities in each one of them.
Professional background: Started working for consulting firm in the telecommunications domain. For about a year and a half I worked for a major french telecom carrier and for a year I worked for the world's largest telecommunications equipment manufacturer Huawei. This was great because I got a lot of exposure to the Asian culture in a working environment. I then left the consulting company and moved onto a position in a telecom service provider in France where I currently work. I've been at that position for almost two years and I've gained a lot more responsibility than what I had before. In total I have a little more than 4 years of professional experience.
Post-mba: My goal is to obtain an MBA degree so that I can transition to a management consulting position and specialize specifically in strategy. My ambition is to work for several years at MBB and then move to a senior decision taking position at a major telecom firm with a worldwide presence.
Extracurricular: During my engineering school days I was part of the model United Nations club and I got to attend several years to Harvard's National Model United Nations in Boston. I also did a lot of volunteer work as a calculus tutor for the school. Most recently I have been volunteering with a french NGO that mentors young people that come from a disadvantaged background.
My greatest concern is my GMAT score. I took the test today and scored 700 (Q47, V40, IR4). A little bit disappointed on the quant section since I was hoping to score at least 49. I know that INSEAD recommends aiming at the 70th percentile for all sections but I'm not sure if retaking the test might boost my chances of getting in.

Overall, your profile has good elements to be a strong applicant for INSEAD.
In order to assess your career progression, may I ask which is your current role at the telecom service provider?
What is the third country you have lived in and for how long?
Regarding GMAT, your 700 score is just fine. But yeah, as an engineer, it is very likely that INSEAD will be more strict with the 70th percentile recommendation on your Quant score. Is a retake an option for you? Which intake and round are you planning to apply in?

Thanks for getting back to me.
Currently I am a technical expert for the optical transport product line. Part of my functions:
- Validate all the technical aspects for each of our customer's solutions.
- Asses CAPEX/OPEX figures that are handed out to our presales team who then evaluate the financial aspects of each business case.
- Technology intelligence for the optical transport product line: Assessment of new technologies available from our equipment manufacturer. Evaluation of applicability for new use cases.
- Level 3 technical support for complex deployment operations.
I practically grew up in Venezuela and in United States, where I spent 5 years. I have been living in France for the past 5 years.
I wanted to apply for R1 but I did not finish my GMAT preparation in time so I was aiming at the R2 deadline for the sept 2019 intake (nov 2018).
I'm not sure if I could both retake the GMAT and finish all the other components of my application in time.
