I am confused how can I assume that yes I am done with quants.i got 42 in actual gmat(2months back)whereas in Gmat prep mocks I never got below 50.
I am doing OG 2016 completely.
Will that be enough or do I have to consult a few more material whose level of question is above gmat level.
Please guide.
My target score is 50+ in quants.
You'll get different answers for this from different people, but my guess is that most people will need more than just the OG. By the way, your profile says that you have a 51 on quant. Maybe you just had a bad day when you got the 42?

Yep ..thats my old highest score ..
My recent score was lower that my previous score of 690.
I am retaking gmat with a hope of getting 700+ this time.

I would suggest go for GMATClub and Manhattan material for more Questions on quant. These will help you achieve Q50-51.

I randomly solve questions from gmatclub .
How can I be more organised in my approach.
Manhattan questions..from which book exactly..they have a set of 8 ..and I have only consulted Manhattan SC so far which doesn't have questions.
Whch guide has quants questions.

What material did you use for your earlier attempt? You're obviously capable of getting a 51, so maybe you should play it safe by not depending solely on the OG. Take a look at what abhimahna is suggesting.

I was right out from college, my basics were Damn good.
Work and age has withered me I believe. :-(
I wrote CAT that time (Indian GMAT) I solved Sarvesh kumar (I am not sure about Kumar) but yes a quant book by Sarvesh.

Your previous score tells you are capable enough to get Q51. All you need is Patience and Focus while doing Quant Questions. This is what work for me too. I too get questions wrong once I try to hurry or loose my patience. So, just calm down and solve the questions methodologically.

I would suggest first determine the area(PS or DS) in which you are facing issues and then, if possible, determine the specific topics.

Look for questions that Bunuel has in his Signature. Those questions could surely help you reach back to your deserving score.

I think once you do these questions, you don't need anything to improve. Good Luck. :)

Then you were prepared for far more than the GMAT could ever test. I don't think you need to do all that material again. Focus on GMAT material. Apart from all the material here, you could also look at getting all the official material, not just the OG 2017. So that would include questions from the earlier OGs, the quant review, the question pack, and all the GMATPreps. The GMATPreps should, of course, be taken as full length tests.

Also, don't worry too much about the basics. The basics on the GMAT are exactly that: basics (on both quant and verbal). Shouldn't be too much of a problem for you to pick them up again quickly.

Hi nailin16,

No worries!
You can surely increase your speed and eventually hit at least 49 or above just like 90% of our students as long as you follow our study guide properly.

Please note that mock or practice test scores tend to be higher than actual GMAT and that is probably why you got Q42 this time. If you aim at hitting 50 or above, you need logic to tackle quant as GMAT Math is logic math test, rather than math skill test. You should learn 'logic' to solve GMAT math. With our unique approaches of Variable approach for DS and IVY approach for PS, you can significantly save time, and will have 10 minutes to spare on exam.

For instance, with our approaches, you can solve questions that normally take 4 minutes in 1 minutes and 30 seconds, and 2-minute question in 30 seconds.
Also, You can solve DS questions 100% with Variable approach and 30-40% of PS questions with IVY approach. With the approaches, you can surely hit 50 or above.

Based on your score, it seems like you didn't get all the basic questions right. In order to encounter difficult questions, you must get all the basic questions correct first. Hence, it is very crucial for you to reassure you have solid basic math skills first, which you can learn from Math Review, a part of our course package. After that, we highly recommend learning our world's first unique approaches. Since GMAT takers are busy for their work and don't have enough time to study, you don't need to learn all about general math skills including the ones that don't appear on actual exam.
We teach 'must-know' math skills that are required for GMAT math. We don't teach something else.

If you would like to try our approaches, Please try Trial Pack (4 hour lesson) that reveal our secret approaches of DS+PS core theory that you have never seen. You can test whether you like them or not before you enroll.

Also, apart from the online course, you can separately purchase 700+ level questions if you aim at hitting Q49-51. https://www.mathrevolution.com/gmat/700level
