Hello ankitnoida2018

Leadership can be portrayed in several ways. It doesn't necessarily mean just holding a formal title of a leader or leading a team.
You need to have done something that shows leadership 'potential'. It could be taking initiative to solve business problems, going out of your way, doing significantly more than what your job calls for/additional responsibility or something extraordinary in extracurricular.
Honestly, you need to write down all your life stories and then leadership potential can be identified from those.
A position in toastmasters club can certainly help- but more than the position, your contributions/impact will matter.

Hi Gaurang

Thanks for posting. Here is our assessment:
- Your academics are quite decent, and your work profile can be a differentiator, as ISB values operations profiles (and so do consulting firms that recruit from ISB).
- Your GMAT score, on the other hand, could be improved a bit, although your current score is not below the bar. If you can, retake, and try to improve by 20-30 points, as that can help.
- On ECA, learning and knowing German helps, but there is not much that is noteworthy beyond that. Based only on the information provided, this is a potential area of weakness for you.
- Overall, at this point, focus on your app and on your GMAT (in case retaking), and try and bring out the differentiators in your profile.

Hope this helps. Feel free to come back with more queries as needed.

Hello rish2708

Have you already applied?
If yes, then there is no point in a profile evaluation now. You will get to know the actual 'review' of your profile from ISB itself in a couple of days.
If not submitted, then I would highly recommend a GMAT retake with a 700+ target score.
Though your profile seems to have many positives, however, with close to 2 years of work ex (towards the lower end), that too in the IT field, a higher GMAT would be expected from you.
Everything else looks impressive no doubt, but you must also present your case well in the essays (cannot comment on that with the current info).

Thanks a lot sir.
I agree to the GMAT part and yes I have already applied.
I was just trying to get opinions on the profile. From isb point of view they said that gmat score range from 600-750 is fine. But yeah, as you said I will wait for the isb to confirm.
I am a bit occupied with some work and I feel to give gmat now might backfire.
I will surely give a try. 99.9% people have told me the same thing. But I have a belief for .01% too :) :)

Hello gmatgautam

710 is the average score of ISB. That means to get an admission, you will need to be above par in other areas of your profile.
These areas are- career progress, achievements at work, impact in extracurricular activities (usually school/college activities do not carry much weight unless you have done something spectacular) and finally clear career goals that fit your profile as well as ISB's profile. You may read here to know all the factors that matter in your written application and here on career goals.
Now you have shared your stats, but none of the above info has been touched upon.
In that case, my generic advice to you is that aim to showcase your 'qualitative' strengths (as mentioned above) via your essays/LOR to stand out. If you can do that, this GMAT score may get you in.

Hi Everyone,

Request everybody to evaluate my profile for ISB,

Here goes my profile,

I work for my Father and we run an Information Security product company in India. In my 12 years of experience I have been tasked with building teams (Implementation, Support and Business Development), conduct Market Research to identify new technologies and build products and I have pretty much been involved in various other activities to build the company that it is today.

UG : Electronics and Communications from College of Engineering, Guindy, Chennai
UG Score : 5.9/10 (I know its low)
Work Experience : 12 years
Designation : Associate Vice President Products
GMAT Score : V-35, Q-48, Total - 680, AWA - 6, IR - 6

Should I retake my GMAT or is this sufficient to get an interview call? Also, what are my chances of making it into ISB?

Hello sisyphus84

With your profile a 680 may not be a deal breaker, but it still makes things less 'sure'. With enough time between now and R2 deadline, why not attempt a retake and target 700+. This will also help you compensate for the weak past scores.
With 12 years of work ex, you will definitely be an outlier in terms of age/years of experience. Be prepared to showcase a real need of an MBA. Since you haven't touched upon your goals it is tough to give a meaningful feedback. If your goals are centered around growing your family business, then also be prepared to counter ISB's questions around why you shouldn't be aiming for ISB PGP MFAB.
Apart from this you must showcase the real contribution and impact of your work than a laundry list of responsibilities (quality and story always trumps quantity in ISB applications).

Dear Rashmi,

With your diverse profile, you stand a very good chance at getting the interview call from ISB Admissions Team.

GMAT Verbal is on a lower end. However, in case you cannot re-take GMAT before submitting the application, you should focus on bringing in a strong differentiating flavour through your essays. Pointers such as fellowship for Teach for India, Non IT Background will surely help you.

All the Best!
