Hello Abhinav230,

Thanks for writing in.

The GMAT score is definitely on the lower side of the average but profile-wise, there are a number of talking points - client handling exposure, entrepreneurial experience, as well as decent extra-curriculars if not stellar ones.

Curious to know why your post MBA goals revolve around health tech. We are hoping you are currently working full-time in the same domain as well.

The essays hold the key here - how well you link your strengths and experience, the need for a managerial education, and what you wish to achieve going forward. If you are able to showcase the same through compelling essays, you will have a good chance of getting an interview call.

Good luck!

Hello!

Please provide inputs on my profile below-

Background:
25, Male, Indian

Education:
B.E (2018) - 66%
Major: Computer Science and Engineering

Work Exp:
1 year (2018-19) in Harman International as an Associate Engineer: working on big data tech like hive, hadoop, etc in addition to PL SQL, in a technical role.

3.5 (2019-present) years in EY India as part of the Business Consulting practice: joined as an Analyst and have been consistently promoted over 3 years to Senior Consultant (2 skip level promotions in 2 cycles). I've worked across domains such as regulatory compliance, contracts and commercials, project management, operations and auditing. I've worked with diverse clients, spanning FMCG, Pharma, Telecom and IT services. These clients have been global, so I have consistently interacted with stakeholders from varied backgrounds and geographies. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic I was not allowed the opportunity to travel. I've driven multiple engagements and clients at a given time as an SME. Some engagements were:

ITGCs - IT audits and Controls assessments
CSV - Regulatory compliance validations as per FDA regulations
Business Analyst - for SAP and non-SAP applications implementations
Transition manager - driving outsourcing operations for a client to multiple third party vendors. Subsequently, helped set up Business process excellence framework post transition.
Project Management -

Certifications:

ITIL Foundation
Certified Scrum Master
EY Analytics badge - data visualization

Expected GMAT: 690-710

Extracurricular:
CMCA member during my schooling
Part of the university's football team during my BE, as well as at EY
CSR at EY
Competitive Gamer

Goals:
Short term : Move from Business Consulting to Transaction Advisory (Mergers/Acquisitions and Strategy) in Consulting
Long term : Leadership role in strategy

Happy to hear any suggestions or inputs to improve my profile further.

Hi abhisg1,

Thanks for writing in.

At this point, focus should be on achieving a GMAT score in excess of the average at ISB as well as essays that aptly focus on your strengths and bring out strong sync between all that you have done and your post MBA goals. Since you are looking at a transition, you will need to clearly bring out your motivation and how the PGP is going to help you in this regard.

Just focus on cosolidating all that you have done so far instead of worrying about improving your profile. Should you fel the need for a detailed discussion, please feel free to reach out to.

The following link might help with your ISB application and essays:

Hello, I want to apply for the Early Entry Option. Please take a look at my profile

GRE- 336(Q170 V166)

Extra-curriculars:
1. Part of an NGO for 2 years, which represents patients with a bleeding disorder. Organized and led many events for the NGO.
2. Only volunteer for an International doctors' camp. Helped in their work, which is now used in many countries.
3. College organizing committee member, played a crucial role in establishing Music Club in our new college.
4. Participated in MUN

Work Experience:
I recently started working for Cognizant, India as an Analyst.

So even if I don't get admitted now, is there a chance for me to get an admission after 2 or 3 years?

Hi Steviekamp,

Thanks for writing in.

You have a very good GRE score and considering you just started working with Cognizant, you will also have a number of takeaways in so far as your professional experience goes.

You must definitely look at applying for the Early Entry Option. There is absolutely nothing to lose because (even in the worst case scenario) you can always apply as a re-applicant a couple of years down the line! :-)

All the best!

Hi Abhijeet612,

Hope this finds you well. The information shared by you is very limited in nature and we are, therefore, unable to comment on your profile in detail. However, the GMAT score you are targetting is on the lower side and you should definitely be looking for a score upwards of 710.

We hope you are also considering some other programs.

Thanks.

Hello Krishnaps54

Most important element here is what are your post MBA career goals.
ISB would want to know why you wouldn't go for MFAB instead of PGP. Big question to answer.
Apart from this missing info, you have obvious strengths (acads, GMAT, paper) that will help you stand out (no extracurricular to talk about though).

Hello lalliemoon

Quite a well-rounded profile. Acads are decent, target GMAT of 720+ will put you in a good spot, extracurriculars are interesting (how you make them relevant to the application will matter a lot), career goals look organic and realistic, work ex shows potential.
Basically, no evident weakness, just put together a solid application.

All the best

Hello AmritS

Candidates from the armed forces definitely have an edge.
It is essential that you also work on stating the right set of goals looking at your experience (if you haven't, go research about the amazon pathways program, might suit you).
With a 700+ you will have a good shot at ISB.
DM me if you want to get in touch with other past students from the army/navy who studied at ISB.
P.S.- exposure to corporate is not a downside :-)

You have the pillars of a strong foundation for getting admitted to ISB. It would be helpful to learn more about your experience - both extracurricular and professional - but you don't necessarily need to share here. The depth of your achievements needs to be showcased in your CV/resume and essays (and LORs.) That's where you will find the greatest opportunity to differentiate yourself the competition. Coming from politics is going to be an especially interesting angle.

Your scores (GPA and GMAT) are solid, so no need to worry there!

Good luck,

Hello, I wish to apply for the ISB intake round 2, 2023 class .

I am currently 25 years old. I have a GMAT score of 720, two years of job experience in the field of political consulting, and one year of work experience in the field of mechanical engineering (FEA engineer at an MNC). I have experience overseeing elections in three states and have worked with the largest political parties in India during my career as a political adviser. Making plans to win an election was part of my job description (Assembly constituency wise). I've also had experience running political gatherings.

My academic qualifications are as follows:
10th- 10 CGPA
12th- 91.4%
B-tech (Mechanical Engineering, Vellore Institute of Technology)- 7.22 CGPA

During my college days I was part of a Solar Car Manufacturing Team where I participated in events accredited by Education Ministry. I also received special achievers award for the same from my university.

Dear Piyush700,

At first glance, your profile seems to be quite interesting. The ad com would definitely be interested to understand what motivated you to transition from a Mechanical engineering role to that of a Political consultant. If you play your cards well and can relate how your unique experience will add value to the cohort and contribute to peer learning, you should be well positioned to receive an interview invite. Leadership, Crisis Management, Diplomacy, Networking, Grass root level impact, Identification of causes relevant to the masses, policy and frameworks aligned with the right incentives, etc. are some of the skill sets you can position.

Career Goals – Ad com would want to understand where you see yourself post the MBA program, how ISB fits in your goals, and what transferrable skills from your present and past you will leverage to succeed in your future. While your stats tell the admissions committee whether you can likely handle the rigor of their program, they don’t reveal anything about how you work with others, what leadership roles you've taken, what motivates you or what your future goals are. You will need to address and highlight them via a compelling draft of Essays, LOR, and application form.

I am an ISB alum, CO15, and have been guiding applicants to get into global Business schools for the last 6 years. Reach out to me in case you seek professional help with your application.

Cheers and Best of Luck!

We see you have a very strong chance at ISB provided you are able to tie everything together in your essays. Your career goals look a bit all over the place at the moment; therefore, getting more clarity on this front is definitely something you should be looking at.
