Hello anmolsb

ISB will evaluate your profile on four factors- Academic Potential, Work Experience, Diversity and Career Goals.

1. Academic Potential- GMAT is good, and do not worry about the IR, ISB does not consider this. Past scores are decent too.
2. Work Ex-shows potential, consulting always has good stories to tell and measurable impact to show
3. Diversity- Industry and role will add some diversity. Extracurriculars (technical CSR bit is interesting, but the other one is old and might not be relevant anymore, will have to find more details to see if it can add value) are mixed bag based on the impact and recency of the activities.
4. Career Goals- though clear and organic, you will need to show research on how and where these companies recruit there talent from and the fit with ISB.

You may want to read here on what factors work in a profile and here to add to your research on career goals.

Hello Tusharjoshi573

Did you get a rejection with or without an interview? This will tell a lot where things might have gone wrong.
Either way, there's a good improvement in the GMAT, that will help.
Work ex shows potential for sure.
Extracurricular seem all from university and seem old/irrelevant to add value unless they are recent, then something can be done.
Career goals seem clear, realistic and organic. Have they changed vs Last year? This will also be a major decision maker.
Anything else that has changed in your profile over the past year?
Do not see any major weakness as of now except perhaps extracurriculars but that will not be a deal breaker.

You may want to read here on what factors work in a profile and here to add to your research on career goals.

Dear sir,
I got rejection without interview in both colleges last year.
Furthermore, my goal last year in ISB essay was starting operations consulting firm. This year my goal is to go into manufacturing operations.

I do not have any extra curriculars post graduation. My job did not give me much time for anything. But i have certifications after graduation such as six sigma, scrum master. Will they help in covering this extra curricular gap?

Hello Tusharjoshi573

The improved GMAT and clarity on goals shall help.
Extracurricular is something that adds diversity to your profile, and the certifications can do that if presented well in the essays.

Hi abhisg1

You have undoubtedly very strong and rich work experience, the certifications done and how you have used the learning outcomes in your job will help you make strong essays. Your extracurriculars are decent, the only grey area is the academic side and the GMAT range. Prepare well and try to cross the average gmat score of the PGP batch to make up for academics.

Hello!

Please provide inputs on my profile below-

Background:
25, Male, Indian

Education:
B.E (2018) - 66%
Major: Computer Science and Engineering

Work Exp:
1 year (2018-19) in Harman International as an Associate Engineer: working on big data tech like hive, hadoop, etc in addition to PL SQL, in a technical role.

3.5 (2019-present) years in EY India as part of the Business Consulting practice: joined as an Analyst and have been consistently promoted over 3 years to Senior Consultant (2 skip level promotions in 2 cycles). I've worked with diverse clients, spanning FMCG, Pharma, Telecom and IT services. These clients have been global, so I have consistently interacted with stakeholders from varied backgrounds and geographies. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic I was not allowed the opportunity to travel. I've driven multiple engagements and clients at a given time as an SME. Some engagements were:

ITGCs - IT audits and Controls assessments
CSV - Regulatory compliance validations as per FDA regulations
Business Analyst - for SAP and non-SAP applications implementations
Transition manager - driving outsourcing operations for a client to multiple third party vendors. Subsequently, helped set up Business process excellence framework post transition.
Project Management -

Certifications:

ITIL Foundation
Certified Scrum Master
EY Analytics badge - data visualization

Expected GMAT: 690-710

Extracurricular:
CMCA member during my schooling
Part of the university's football team during my BE, as well as at EY
CSR at EY
Competitive Gamer

Goals:
Short term : Move from Business Consulting to Transaction Advisory (Mergers/Acquisitions and Strategy) in Consulting
Long term : Leadership role in strategy

Happy to hear any suggestions or inputs to improve my profile further.

Hi alemurari26

As YLP has 3 stages Stage1 doesn't need GRE/GMAT test score, the evaluation criteria are primarily education pedigree and academic percentage and your contribution and participation through extracurricular activities. Although your academic percentages and extracurriculars are good showcasing strong leadership skills, the GRE score would not be sufficient considering the competition from your pool of applications.

We strongly suggest appearing for the GRE again and aiming for a higher GRE score as you have enough time to prepare and write again.

Hi Abhinav230

Although you have rich work experience, the Btech percentage and the current GMAT score don't sync. If you are planning to apply in R2, please think about another attempt and see how it goes. The information shared under extracurriculars are largely from the college and nothing much after college, make some pointers to show the continuity of some of extra curricular activities you are passionate about.

Wishing you all the best.

Hi @anmoIsb

Bachelor in geoscience + the current GMAT score of 760 and your diverse work experience coupled with strong extracurriculars makes you an ideal ISB candidate. Your post MBA plan is in line with your current work experience perfectly connecting the dots. Highlighting the right skills/experience in your application/essays will help you achieve admission to the prestigious admission to PGP.

Answering your last question, I would certainly propose ISBMantra as your consultant where you will get the right advice when you connect and speak with our panel members/consultants who are ex-admission officers of ISB and high-quality alumni who will not only assist you in making a strong application and winning essays but also prepare you for admissions interview.

Hello,
You have a good amount of experience as a consultant and the continuous promotions also advocate your strong dedication and leadership. The GMAT score you expect is also quite competitive. I hope you do get a score of 700+. You also have clear short-term and long-term goals. I think you should focus on how an MBA will help you get to your long-term goals. List the reasons how an MBA will give you the skills that you currently lack in order to change your track from Business Consulting to Transaction Advisory in Consulting. Let me know your target schools and we can analyze your profile according to those schools.

Good luck!

Hello,
You do seem to have a good amount of experience, a good GMAT score, promotions, and leadership experience. The work experience in operations does strengthen the base for your goals. However, your extracurriculars seem to be dated. Has anything changed in your profile or goals in the last year? Please let me know if you were rejected with an interview or without. We can talk about your application experience and try to figure out the problem areas. At CrackAdmission, we have an expert ISB Alumni panel that can help you with your application. Do DM for a chat about your applications this year.

Good luck!

Hello,
Your GMAT score is great and no doubt makes your profile competitive. You also have a good amount of consultancy experience. Talk about your growth and leadership experiences during these years. You do need to focus on how an MBA from ISB can help you in your goals. You have a clear post-MBA goal but talk about how an MBA will get you there and your logic behind it. Draw a clear bridge between your short-term and long-term goals. At CrackAdmission, we have an expert ISB Alumni panel that can help you with your application like several other successful applications. Do DM for a chat about your ISB application.

Good luck!

Your GRE score is just crazy and compensates for the many deficits in your profile (such as low undergrad score).

My only question is...why didn't you apply in R1?

To answer your question, yes. There is definitely a chance of being admitted in 2-3 years if you don't get in this time around. In fact, I would imagine you will be a much stronger candidate with more work experience under your belt.

We agree that your GRE score is a huge asset, but it's not really a way to entirely overcompensate for other aspects of your profile. You still need to be well-rounded. The concern for this time around is that you will be seen as not "complete enough." There's no harm in applying now. If you don't get in, you can continue to improve your profile (most notably by accruing valuable full-time work experience) and then give it another year when you are in even better standing.

If we can be of help to you now for this upcoming application season, don't hesitate to reach out to us to discuss during a free consultation:
