Hello all, I am taking the GMAT soon and I am trying to figure out what my cancellation score should be based upon my target schools and other factors.
Professional Goals: Pursue a JD/MBA with a focus in marketing and communication law. After a few years in private practice I'd like to ultimately find my way over to BigFed as an attorney for the FTC, FCC or a similar regulatory agency.
UGPA 3.74/4 (Tier 2 Public, usually ranked around 90-110)
Majors: Philosophy, Mathematics
GRAD: MA in Religion (Ivy, GPA not calculated)
GMAT: The question at hand, my range has been erratic (640-710) but I don't believe further study would be beneficial.
Work Experience: One year teaching high school, six years enlisted military (3 years in Special Operations, creating political, cultural, and communications products for foreign audiences)
Other relevant factors: intermediate working proficiency in Farsi (Iran) and Dari (Afghanistan)
Target Schools: Cornell, UNC Chapel Hill, Duke, Boston University, Boston College
Thanks in advance!
Hey dude,
Well overall you have a very nice and very interesting profile. Special ops. Philosophy and math. A great GPA. I think if you could hit a 700 plus, you would be good to go for Top 10 schools to tell you the truth, and I think that
a) you should really put in every effort possible to get the highest GMAT score you can
b) you should apply to higher ranked schools (if you can get that GMAT)
Really your profile is quite excellent, and it would be a shame if you applied with a lower GMAT than you could potentially get!
I hope this helps!
