Several internships in fashion sector (did significant work in startups)

GMAT score: 710
Aiming for ESSEC, ESSEC, Bocconi, EDHEC
Confused about which other university to target

Wish to select a UK university to send my score to, and had finalized Warwick over Imperial as I thought Warwick would be a safer option keeping in mind I will be applying to the top unis in France. However, Warwick's application portal stated that a GMAT score is not needed and would not add value to the application. Should I send my score to Warwick or not? Or should I just apply to Imperial instead?

Hey aryamaagarwal

Your GMAT score looks satisfactory, though you lack work experience. One needs at least three years of work experience to go for an MBA abroad as per international standards. I would advise you to go for a MIM, which requires zero work experience, though the problem is Warwick University does not provide MIM courses.

Imperial College of London requires two years of work experience for MIM, and they don’t need your GMAT score. So it would be better to go for an IELTS, TOEFL or a Duolingo exam.

Here are the general eligibility criteria for pursuing MIM at Imperial College London:
Undergraduate Degree at 2:1 Honours or international equivalent with advanced quantitative courses
Minimum two years of work experience
English Proficiency Test Scores:
IELTS – A minimum score of 7.0 bands with 6.5 in all elements
TOEFL – A minimum score of 100 with 22 in all elements
Duolingo – 125 overall with no less than 15 in any band
Here is a list of documents that you will need:
Electronic copies of full academic transcripts and certificates
Personal Statement
Cv/ Resume
Contact Details of two referees (One must be Academic)
GMAT or GRE scores (Recommended but not Compulsory)
English Language Test Results

Hi vatsdevanshi hope this finds you well

You have a good profile for top MiM programs.

Your professional stint with the Telecom giant would prove helpful in demonstrating project management and stakeholder management experiences, differentiating you from the pool of applicants. Your ECs are decent but would need some further introspection.

What do you want to do after the MiM and mid/termlong-term? How would your prior experience help you get into the roles you wish to pursue? A lot of introspection and research needs to be done to select the right set of schools and present a compelling case for your candidacy. Reaching out to admissions offices to get candid feedback on your profile can set the right expectations and help you filter options. I encourage you to interact with alums from your target schools and attend webinars conducted by schools so that you broaden your perspective on the programs and possible opportunities post-MiM. This experience would also give you valuable content to discuss later in your essays and interviews.

Best wishes

Hi everyone! Just wanted to get some feedback on my profile
Background and nationality: Australian, majoring in Finance
Undergrad Information: Commerce degree at USYD, 3.0 GPA (roughly)
GMAT/GRE: Targetting a 700+ GMAT
Work experience:
- Big 4 public sector consulting
- Big 4 Financial services consulting in Hong Kong
- Operational intern at a small investment firm
Leadership: Deputy director in a finance society, Events planning for campus club
Community and others: Management board with local community organization - helping plan fundraising efforts and marketing campaign
Post master goals: Hopefully rectify GPA issue and aiming for a strategy consulting job

I was wondering about my chances at schools like:
1. LBS MiM/MFA
2. Duke MMS
3. USC MMS

Definitely know that the GPA is gonna be a weakness, but hoping to use a high GMAT and decent work experience to offset that. Just worried that it might hold me back significantly.

Thank you!

Hey winozy

Your profile looks brilliant, and you are all set to get admission into any of the B-schools mentioned above abroad. Your GMAT score expectation is low but works and is acceptable in most top-tier abroad universities. Though your GPA is on the higher side, your work experience is all set to cover it for you.

I think MIM at London Business School will be your best option. However, to clear out all your doubts regarding the eligibility criteria for MFE, here let me simplify it for you:
You must have a bachelor's degree or an equivalent qualification.
A minimum of two years of work experience and an updated one-page CV/resume are required.
Two references (academic and professional).
Transcripts or certified copies of all English degrees obtained
An essay of up to 500 words with a set of two questions (template available on the university's website).
Original GMAT or GRE scores (minimum of 600).
TOEFL, IELTS, Cambridge CPE, PTE, or CPA scores are acceptable.

Your work experience makes your profile even more convincing, and I suggest you start your application process as soon as possible.

If you want to know which school is a better fit for you or get a detailed analysis of your profile, get in touch with our study abroad experts.

Looking for HEC - TUM Dual Degree Program

Hi, my name is Keval Patel and I am a 20-year-old Indian student currently in my third year of a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. I am passionate about product design and staying up-to-date with the latest technologies in engineering. In June 2023, I plan to take the GMAT in order to pursue a dual degree program combining a Master's in Management from HEC with a Master's in Innovation from TUM. Although I do not have any work experience at the moment, I will have 8-9 months of experience before the application deadline for the dual degree program. I am excited to apply my technical skills and knowledge to the field of management and innovation in order to make a positive impact in the industry.

Also what should be my target for GMAT Score ( 710 rn )

Hey Napoleoncaesar,

With IIT’s brand name, you have an advantage over other applicants. In fact, your GPA is a major plus, which lets you target all the good schools worldwide.
Your Big 4 experience makes you stand out. As a good brand name, you can mention domestic and international clients. Schools will want to know the business impact of your experience.

Volunteering is fantastic, and schools look for students with leadership qualities who can lead a team. That needs some quantification too. You can also highlight your events and the number of people who attended them.

You have mentioned that your goal is to enter finance and consulting, so for that, you can take up some courses like financial modelling. This will add a significant amount of value to your profile. In fact, you can pitch by stating that you intend to conduct CFA in the coming months.
Out of the list of schools you are targeting, LBS, Duke, and HEC Paris will fall under the "dream" category, and you definitely have a good shot at them.

But, I will also recommend a list of other schools since the ones you have mentioned have a low acceptance rate:

1. INSEAD
2. Cornell
3. Kellogg
4. LSC
5. Imperial

The best thing to do is to target a spectrum of 6-8 schools so that you can bag an admission from at least 2-3.

Your GMAT score of 720 is excellent and there’s no need to retake the GMAT. All you need to do is to nail the application

Chances for all the dream schools will be around: 30–40%.
For schools like ESSEC, ESCP, and Imperial, the chances would be around 50-60%.

For the job prospect, you can be confident because 95% of students get placed within three months of graduation if they have a brand name like the above-mentioned schools.

If you need more help, we'd be happy to setup a call and give more pointers on how to improve your profile and the right schools you should target.

Hey hxalghfr,

Your CGPA of 3.75 is excellent t, and you have a good brand name in your education which is Birmingham University. In your list, you can target almost all UK schools. Your work experience as a business consultant at Big 4 adds brownie points to your profile, and you can mention any international clients you had. You must quantify things like business impact, efficiency, and TAT improvements.

You can also highlight your leadership skills and abilities, as the schools you are targeting demand that. Quantification of different roles like vice president of the Indonesian Student Association and treasurer of the Indignation Society will set you apart from the crowd. You can also mention any certifications or courses that you’ve taken so far.

If you want to get into strategy consulting, you may start with a week-long course from Coursera or Udemy.
Your GMAT score is a bit on the low side, as Imperial, LSE, and other major schools have low acceptance rates. In fact, you can aim for Imperial, as it prefers applications without a GMAT as well.

I would recommend you look at schools like:

1. UCL
2. King’s College London
3. Warwick
4. Bayes Business School
5. Imperial

If you need more help, we'd be happy to setup a call and give more pointers on how to improve your profile and the right schools you should target.
